Correct me if I'm wrong - does the Ring Magazine belt have a mandatory and if you don't fight him do you get stripped? Do they make you pay fees? You can become Ring Magazine Champion without even fighting for it, correct? Doesn't sound better to me.

You can ONLY win it by beating the man who beat the man or if it is vacant it can only be won by the #1 beating the #2.

Pascal (#2) beat the #1 guy in Dawson, thus becoming the man. Hopkins beat the man and thus he's the man now.

I think almost everyone agrees The Ring is far more prestigious than some title any kid can pick up fighting a tomato can.
