Froch tells the truth, and as usual, Amir fans hate him for it.

That would be complaining that the ref DIDNT do his job.. He believes the ref did his job in the Khan fight..Which the ref did.. Khan pushed off 100 times because he has no inside skills..Comment

You're not actually meant to break the fighters of one of them is punching. That puts the brawler, or inside fighter at a distinct disadvantage. He can only fight in one spot, on the inside. If the ref breaks them right as they get inside that's much, much, much worse than letting them fight. As a boxer you have to have some inside ability. That's part of boxing.I couldn't care less whether Khan wins or loses, however the referee was terrible on Saturday. In that ring there was a boxer (Khan) and a brawler (Peterson). Every time there was a clinch, the referee didn't split the fighters. He let Peterson do the roughing up and lead with his head. Khan had to push him away. Peterson was only warned once for leading with his head, which was right at the start of the final round, when he'd being doing it since round 3!

Cast your minds back to the Hatton vs Mayweather fight, Hatton tried doing exactly what Peterson did but the ref that night (Cortez) didn't let him for a second! Ok, Cortez was probably a bit over the top with his constant interfering and saw more action than the 2 fighters that night, but he was splitting the fighters up when they were tangled up, Cooper didn't do it once in the entire fight! Why?

In my opinion Khan was punished for his pushing as a direct result of the referee not being strong enough, or him being deliberately one sided to Peterson's advantage.

Fights need fair refereeing or else there is no point in having the fight at all. Nobody can say that the referee was fair in this fight. Peterson put on a good show and the fight was close. It's becoming a problem in boxing more and more, corrupt officials a ruining the sport. Just look at the end of the fight again. 10 minutes to get the scorecards and when they appear one of them had been altered. Now that Khan has appealed the scorecards have miraculously been lost!!!

Something is rotten in Washington, and it ain't *****'s socks!!!

Yes, Cortez broke them straight away, but that put him at a huge disadvantage and everyone and his dog *****ed about it afterward in Britain. Now that this guy lets them do it, suddenly it's wrong? Cortez was unfair, but that's not this fight and this ref, who did a very fair job to both guys, not only one.

Try checking out and learning the rules. You shouldn't break when one fighter is punching. You shouldn't actually break straight away at all. You're meant to give them both a chance to fight out, if they don't or both are just holding, that's when you break.

If you break when one fighter is punching while the other holds, that's no different than stopping a boxer from moving and jabbing. That's his domain and style. No one stops them from doing it. Just as a good ref lets the inside fighter fight inside, even if the boxer is holding, pushing etc etc. You warn the boxer and let the inside fighter punch. That's good refereeing.

You're saying you think that Peterson shouldn't have been allowed to fight anywhere but on the outside? Riiiight.Last edited by BennyST; 12-15-2011, 09:28 PM.Comment
