I'm not sure if I'm the only one that noticed but it seems like every fighter thats young and it's with golden boy they get thrown to the wolves to young and than they become crap.. the same thing is going to happen to Saul Alvares I bet. It happened to Khan,Ortiz I believe the best promoter out there is Bob A he knows how to bring his fighter's up the right way and they become super stars.
Delahoya/golden boy fighters

i don't necessarily agree but if they do then good. if you have the talent you have the talent. fighting 40 bums before you are tested isn't going to do much but create false hype. maidana wasn't even highly thought of when he fought ortiz and either was peterson. if you can't beat guys like that 30 fights into your career then you probably aren't a great talent. look at mares. the guy fought darchinyan, perez, and agbeko and he won because he had the skills. ortiz didn't, khan is still borderline, and so is canelo. canelo's had 40 fights it's time to fight a kirkland, cotto type win or lose. if he wins he deserves star status but if he loses he doesn't pretty simple. how long can he keep pretending to be a top fighter without fighting a top fighter? we will see. -
They're just not that good. How old was Sugar Ray leonard when he fought Duran? 24. How old was Mayweather when he fought Hernandez? 21. Ali when he fought Liston? 22.
The current crop of fighters in the media light aren't the ones to carry the torch.Comment

i thought people hated that canelo isnt being matched up with the top fighters, now its "they get thrown to the wolves".... make up your mind already....you pacquiao fans that extend your love to the promoter are the worst kinds of boxing fans... the line i bolded just points out how pathetic your argument just came across...I'm not sure if I'm the only one that noticed but it seems like every fighter thats young and it's with golden boy they get thrown to the wolves to young and than they become crap.. the same thing is going to happen to Saul Alvares I bet. you start with its about golden boy to " i believe bob arum is the best promoter just because herp derp"......Comment

Look at Chavez Jr career Bob has been protecting him forever. But at the same if a young fighter wants to make money he should be built this way instead of them throwing him with another young lion that is also hungry it would be dangerous it does not mean that the fighter is not good it just means it’s bad for business for both fighters. Young fighters should be brought up like Bob Arum brings his fighters up.Comment

this is whats suppposed to happen, its boxing best fight the best. Delahoya likes to make good matchups thats why i love goldenboyComment

Just because you take an L, it doesn't mean you're crap.I'm not sure if I'm the only one that noticed but it seems like every fighter thats young and it's with golden boy they get thrown to the wolves to young and than they become crap.. the same thing is going to happen to Saul Alvares I bet. People need to move away from the 'couple of losses means you're rubbish' dogma in boxing, it doesn't, far from it. Generally it just means you've had the guts to take on the best, it's generally the unbeaten guys who have avoided the best*
*and I know Daggum will back me up on that

I don't think you guys get my point, I like watching good fights too but what I’m trying to say its that it’s a lot smarter to go with a promoter like Arum since he will make you more money and set you up with fights that he knows you’re going to win when you’re young after you have made enough than he would set you up with another good fighter.Comment

What Arum does is pick a fighter, stashes him on the non-televised undercard and allows them to learn for many years. Little by little he test them, and hopes that they have matured enough to be a champion. Imo, he did this with Pavlik beating Zertuche was when i knew Pavlik was the real deal. Arum has experiance we should expect him to know what he is doing.I'm not sure if I'm the only one that noticed but it seems like every fighter thats young and it's with golden boy they get thrown to the wolves to young and than they become crap.. the same thing is going to happen to Saul Alvares I bet. As for GBP, Delahoya signs fighters he belives in and are most of the time much more proven than when Arum picks up a fighter. I think Delahoya expects his fighters to be as good as he was. I think he belives in the fighters he signs but he does have to slow them down. Delahoya lines them up tough cause thats how he would do in his career fight tough comp. right away.Comment

I do see your point, and I agree, there is a 'right time' to step up in quality of opponents.I don't think you guys get my point, I like watching good fights too but what I’m trying to say its that it’s a lot smarter to go with a promoter like Arum since he will make you more money and set you up with fights that he knows you’re going to win when you’re young after you have made enough than he would set you up with another good fighter.Comment
