If it was June of 88, neither your or Roy had turned pro yet, and it was a few months prior to you icing Paulino Falcone in your pro debut.

Just curious, did you guys ever get pretty heated up in sparring? Were you cool outside the ring?

Either way, that's a pretty action packed session for sparring. Good stuff.

Yeah, that was sparring in preparation for the 88 Olympic Trial and Ray Leonard and Gerald MCclellan were right by the ring watching us spar every day so it was real intense sparring. At that time we were cool enough outside the ring, but we were both focused on the Trials so we didn't hang out too much etc. We became closer a few years later when I used to go to Pensacola to spar with him as professionals

wow thats some great sparring footage iceman.....where do u rate roy jones in terms of the best super middleweights ever? was there ever a chance u guys cud have faced each other professionally?

Roy told me in 1992 that he wouldnt face me or Lamar Parks as pros, that we were friends and that there were enough other guys to fight. I am close with his people in Pensacola and it would have been too weird for us to actually fight each other. I still go see his dad whenever I am in town

I will keep training Clay-Bey if he fights and also former WBA (regular) champion Jose Rivera.

the knock out punch used to be in the gallery here at boxing scene ( if there still is a gallery ). i remember seeing it, i thought it was one of the most brutal knock outs i've ever seen, **** man, the way serwano's eyes rolled back into his head when he went down made me never want to fight roy jones jr.
