Peterson aint getting near 7 figures fighting anyone else.
Khan on the other hand will fight for a world title in his next fight with or without Peterson.
and your last sentence is all the reason in the world why they're being smart and weighing their options
Khan's hype (yes hype because he has done little in the US to warrant his price tag) has gotten him to the point that good bad or indifferent he will fight again on major US TV.
Peterson hasn't. Without those belts he is still at best the A-side of a mid level TV card (ESPN, Fox etc) or the B-side to a major show. Why not take a few winnable fights and meet Khan at 147 sometime down the road? I mean it worked for Khan, take a few softies, earn some coin the fight your mandos when needed

PS. Khan always wants the big fights. Pre Prescott he wanted to be champ, one of the youngest Brit Champs. He was fixated on it.
Same now, he didn't even have a rematch clause. In life, looking firward is good, but you gotta deal with what is just in front of you too. This is what seperates the good from the greats in anything. Doing both at the same time and doing it good.

Peterson can do what he wants but realistically, if he has any pride or self-respect, he'll do the rematch.

in the US IMO he is just another guy on HBO's rotation
nothing more nothing less
he has not turned out to be the draw GBP thought he would at this moment. Losing to Peterson did not help his cause. Whining about it after soured it IMO

Khan needs to forget about Peterson, especially now that Peterson has express his reluctance for a rematch. Sometimes having the satisfaction of being ducked is enough in boxing. It also shows Peterson lacked confidence in beating Khan in a rematch. Let's just assume that Peterson will lose again in another Khan fight.

I believe Khan wanted Bradley and Morales and pre prescott he wanted Katsdis, Cassa and Nate. He has always had ambiion IMO.
