Regardless of what he does, he should still has enough power to get Amir Khan, unless Khan continues to convince himself that he was the clear winner that night.

It's actually sad that you think the winner has to beg for the rematch, that says more about Khan than it says about Peterson.
when you really exam the situation I don't see how anyone can't see how Peterson is in the driver's seat period

    1. he is a promotional free agent meaning he can deal with anyone. I know that infuriates Golden Boy because IMO they want to trap Lamont into either fighting Khan again or any of the 140-147 lb fighters they have

    2. this means he doesn't have to go to the UK or Vegas or anywhere. Him being the champ with the belts people will now line up and say "hey we'll fight in DC for your belts" that is some great leverage to have

    3. Khan's intentions were for this to be his last fight at 140. Now having lost and seeking a rematch he has to stay at 140 for one more fight otherwise he moves to 147 with a little less momentum.

    4. there are other fights and fighters out there that can stretch his earning potential into something lasting. Yeah sure a Khan fight in the Uk can garner him more money for one fight but if I were him I would serious look at stringing this into several fights. With the tide turning and the rumors of Kery Davis being next in line to being ousted at HBO, Golden Boy's safety net is pulled away. Will Showtime pony up the large sums that GB fighters like Khan have become accustomed to? I doubt it

    • Fool me once, khans a two time loser. This fight cost Amir millions and countless fans. I'm sure Hbo is ready to move on, I know I am and so should Lamont. Americans have a short attention span for losers. Khan needs to take a step back, and realize 2012, he's all in. Make the Peterson fight, get Bredis v. Alvarado rematch on undercard with the understanding Prescott wins and he's got his rematch. I just don't see anything else attracting much interest, redemption or relegation, balls in Amirs court.

you make it sound like Amir was going there as a favour to Peterson, he4 clearly had no respect for him , he thought he was going to just walk all over the guy and make him look a fool infront of his home town and boost his value in the US while also taking Petersons fans, and the clown even had the audacity to invite the president to come watch super star Khan make a fool out this guy in his back yard, the lightness in which he was taking Peterson is reflected in the contract he signed to get him to fight, no rematch clause as he didnt even consider needing a rematch and i gaurantee he wasnt ever going to give lamont one, and also GB had no options on him as they just seen him as a steping stone.

This right here.....It was supposed to be a breeze but it turned out to be a typhoon. Peterson should make khan agree to 70/30 and kiss the ring. GBP really messed up they have NO leverage at all. Instead of trashing Peterson, the judges, and DC they should have been kissing ass to make the situation easier to negotiate. Now you are going to see team Peterson squeeze GBP and team Khan for every drop of blood they can get.

I'd do the same man, I'd try and get the most out of it, a lot of options out there, credible opponents that are also winnable fights for Peterson. This rematch doesn't have to happen so soon, though I think Khan lost quite a bit of momentum and got brought down back to earth. The total disrespect for Peterson was insane, he talked more about Mayweather than he did Peterson.

Also, I think it'd be smart for Peterson's team to get this rematch done at 147, 147 would give Peterson the extra boost he would need incase the fight went into the late rounds again. Peterson will need all the stamina he can get. Overall I'm glad for Peterson, Peterson vs. Bradley II, Matthysse, Maidana-Alexander winner, Alvarado, Brandon Rios...those are all good fights.

              • since i couldn't say it better it's Breadman from **********: Unless “they” offer Peterson 2 million for immediate rematch and guarantee him a follow up date on HBO worth at least 1 million like they did, Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley , I would not fight Khan immediately. Peterson has a right to 1 or 2 showcase defenses. Peterson could fight Danny Garcia or John Molina. Then maybe a big money revenge fight against Brandon Rios who beat his brother. Rios is nobody’s showcase but at 140 I think he and Peterson is a 50/50 fight. Not saying he has to follow my blueprint but….. Peterson now has leverage, he should explore his options.

                  • I hope this backfires on Peterson. Khan dont need Peterson people see how hometown favored Peterson. If i was Khan i would allow time pass and see Peterson ask for $ Khan rematch.

                    • War Peterson.

You know what, i wouldnt be surprised if Lamont won another big fight, and was in line for Floyd. Maybe Bradley rematch, or get signed into TR with the promise of Manny.

Whens the last time Floyd fought a guy with good boxing skills? This should be good.
