I don't think they would. Especially not in the last round.

I don't think Lamont did anything wrong. He wanted to make it a rough fight and he succeeded in it. Much props to him.

I think Amir and Freddie's plan was to clinch everytime they got on the inside but the second Amir clinched, the ref was saying: "Don't hold Khan".

I think Amir pushed because Lamont came in with his head. Lamont's head was in front of his front foot when fighting on the inside. I think Amir thought that if he covered his face to avoid headbutts, Lamont would go to the body. If he would cover his body, Lamont would attach his head. So to avoid that Amir pushed him off.

Amir just said on Twitter the rematch is 99% made.

Amir is gonna shine in the rematch. Just wait and see.

No. But they shouldn't be deducted points for pushing either.

Smoger and Bayless are more impartial and are more likely to not be seen in the fight, so no, I don't think they would have deducted the points. Last night's ref was very bold in taking away the point in the last round and I actually agree with him taking one away for pushing the head down. Amir will do that for 12 rounds if you let him.

However, I don't think Khan was jobbed last night and I can't say I'm upset with the referee's point deductions. He did his job.

Was it extreme? Yes. He could've called Khan for a number of things, really.

Holding and hitting, I saw. Khan trying to hold on, Peterson hitting him.
muscling to the ropes. lol. Khan was muscling off of him, yet he was the only one warned, and incorrectly at that. That's not how you warn fighters before points are deducted. Bad ref.

No, Khan was pushing him off. and got warned plenty. See what you want. Khan has no one to blame but himself.

saying 'stop pushing khan' is to get him to stop pushing in the heat of the fight, he went about taking points inadequately, taking them whimsically instead of calling time and issuing a hard warning, you know, like the competent refs do.

I think those two refs would have taken away a point for pushing and a point for holding Peterson's head down. On the second point deduction, Khan had both arms around Lamont's neck pulling down and then pushed him off. You cannot consistently and blatantly push a opponent away or push down on the back of there neck and head when they get to close to you. Khan needs to learn how to fight on the inside instead of just grabbing. In America and Mexico, they want you to box out. And it is not a law to receive a hard warning before taking a point away. I do not know this perception came from.

joe cortez would have taken 2 points off of peterson for fighting too hard. he's a great ref and i expect to see him in the rematch.
