    Vitali: the myth

    Because is career was cut short in his prime, Klitscko might evolve into a myth. The fact is he only lost two fights and they were on injuries and he was winning both fights on the score cards.

    Also, if Don King does manage to establish one dominant champion, wouldn't there always be the wuestion of 'what would have happend if Kitscko was around?'

    It is possible Vitali might make a comeback one day and partially answer these questions however for the time being he remains a 'what if'.

    My question is, do you think this myth gains more credit over time. In few years Klitscko might be regarded in a higher manner simply because he retired champion at his peak.

    That depends on who looks at it, but maybe. He was reguarded as the best champion with minimal accomplishments, so I woudnt be suprised if he gains more credit. But as for him being called the best, I have a thought. People constantly rag on him and the media by saying he's being called the best and hasnt done anything. I agree with that, but he wasnt being called the best b/c of accomplishments but more out of speculation. In other words, it was based on the anticipation of fights with other fighters. Let me explain. The people look at him and match him up- most would agree about this:
    1. He would easily beat Chris Byrd in a rematch.
    2. He would destroy Ruiz.
    3. He would destroy Rahman.
    4. He would beat Brewster in a tough battle

    Those are the other champs, as for James Toney, half think Vitali would win and half think Toney would win. IMO, this is why he was being called the best. Or at least this why I thought he was one of the best. Just like James Toney. People are calling him the best not because of accomplishments (as a HW)but by comparrison.

      no, I dont think he will be held in any high regard...THOUGH he will be remembered as once being "a HW to beat" for 2 years....I think he will return once all healed...

          I like you Manny, but responding to a thoughtful, well-written thread with infantile smack talk and profanity really drags the tone of the place down...

              The proper way to view Vitali Klitschko =

              Someone who may have been able to dominate a sorry lot......but didn't.

                That seems to make more sense than anything else anyone has said. Good K for you.

                  sick of Vitali hyping.

                  ta guy only did well BECAUSE HE's BIG and TALL. If he fought anyone almost tall as him, he'd get jacked. Ta guy had no boxing skills whatsoeva. Nuthuggers say he has best chin (NEVA BEEEN KD), but that bloke hasn't even fought anyone who hits hard enough to test him. Lennox was past and Sanders spirit wasn't even in ta fight. And last I rememba, Sanders rocked him too in ta 1st round. A fat Sanders AT THAT!

                  Vitali = Ovarated/Ovahyped lil punk!
