Honestly I've been in a lot of forum and right now im quite confused myself some person say Floyd use the philly shell but in my gym we all think its more of a cross arm with his right hand keeped high.
Look at Toney, you will see that BOTH his arms are held really low, his defense consist basically in blocking the punches by rolling with them so they miss him or hit his shoulders. It leaves both his hands ready for a counter attack.
Floyd usually has his left down but he tends to keep his right hand pretty high, near the chin, and the way he dodges punches is a lot like Toney.
The difference with keeping your right hand low or high is the type of punches you will use to counterattack, Toney's right hand beeing low, he often use a right uppercut to counter his opponent.
Floyd's right hand being high, I won't really counter with an uppercut but will tend to use the straight right a lot of times, something he has became a master over the years in my opinion.
So their defense are similar but not exactly the same. The hand position beeing differents, the punches they like to use is therefore a little bit different.
