Reading between the lines and the WBC's truly absurd penchant for faux grandoise, eighteenth century European diplomatic language when it comes to writing something as simple as a bog-standard press statement (why does everything from them have to sound like it was written by a guy in a big, powdery wig at the Palace of Versailles with a quill and ink?)....

.....can we distil this long-winded, pompous bull**** as a statement saying that Vitali has finally been stripped by the WBC but can fight for the title again whenever he wants to in the future?

        Exactly.

But Vitali on yesterday decided to vacate the title, then he was given emeritus status by the WBC early today. Vitali said today he's probably permanently retired and is very unlikely to ever fight again, because he's too busy with Ukrainian politics:

          • Tyson Fury says he'll fight 12 times in 2014

Tyson Fury has vowed to fight once a month next year and has called out Klitschko brothers Vitali and Wladimir.

The British heavyweight took to Twitter to unload a ferocious rant which took no prisoners.

Undefeated Fury, who has won 15 of his 21 victories inside the distance, has promised to fight a dozen times in 2014 in what he calls his ‘bum a month’ campaign.

He tweeted: ‘Just letting every1 no I’m going to fight 12 times in 2014 starting in January. Bum a month campaign. Merry Christmas.’

The 25-year-old from Manchester added: ‘Shout out to all my haters. U lot of jealous wannabes’.

Next on the agenda was an attack on the Klitschkos brothers, David Haye and Deontay Wilder, who is also known as the Bronze Bomber.

‘Dont forget that @Klitschko & @mrdavidhaye & @BronzeBomber are all a bunch of *****s who have s*** there selves from me’

Fury then demands to fight for a world championship and wants a pop at Bermane Stiverne as he tweeted: ‘I wonder of banian stivirn has any balls to fight Tyson Fury? Wbc title’

He finished off with ‘@Klitschkos the biggest shophouses in world boxing. Vitaly is to old & Wlad only wants easy fights like Leapai’

That's lofty and laughable goal. The guy fought once in 2013 and his management has stated he'll be back in the ring in March 2014. The biggest mistake for Fury was signing to fight Haye. He should've went ahead with the IBF eliminator with Pulev. I thought Fury would have had an easier time and better chance of winning against Pulev rather than Haye.

When Fury signed to fight Haye, I had a gut feeling that the fight was too good to be true and that something would happen to derail it.

                  Money talks, I guess.

I hope Fury has a tune-up before pushing on. 2014 will be a big year for him.

                    • Official WBC statement on Vitali Klitschko

                      http://wbcboxing.com/wbceng/news/180...ampion-of-life

The WBC is proud and honored to confirm the status of Vitali Klitschko as WBC Heavyweight World Champion Emeritus. Undoubtedly, Vitali has earned that distinction through his actions inside and outside the ring.

Vitali Klitschko is fighting the fight of his life, this time outside the ring. Vitali is showing to the world what is the true heart of a champion by leading his countrymen to battle in the streets in their search of human equality, rights and peace for the great country of the Ukraine.

Vitali Klitschko announced his candidacy for the Presidency of the Ukraine, which election will take place in 2015. Vitali believed he would be able to defend his WBC Heavyweight World Championship, and wanted to do so against the WBC mandatory contender Bermane Stiverne.

Vitali attended the WBC 51st annual convention in ****kok last November. At the convention, the representatives of the 165 countries affiliated to the WBC issued a special proclamation applauding and joining his efforts to represent boxing and the WBC in his candidacy for the presidency of the Ukraine.

With the current extreme and delicate political situation in the Ukraine, Vitali has answered his country’s call to fight for human rights and equality. Accordingly, Vitali will not be able to provide the WBC with a predictable timeframe to return to the ring. In light of those considerations, the WBC Supreme Council and the WBC Board of Governors have voted unanimously to name Vitali Klitschko WBC Heavyweight Champion Emeritus. Very few great fighters have received such an honorable distinction, which will entitle Vitali to fight for the WBC Heavyweight World Championship when he is ready to return to the ring.

The WBC joins Vitali in his struggle to fight for democracy; to promote rule and order and human equality in his country; and to follow the path of the great Nelson Mandela who paved the way for many to stand up for what they believed was right and to make this a better world.

The WBC will conduct a very special ceremony to award Vitali his WBC Emeritus Champion distinction in the very near future. In the meantime we all wish him great success in his political career.
