Fist of all Margarito was shot, Chavez has no wear and tear on him. Second of all Margarito never weighed over 180 pounds on fight, Chavez does that consistently.

If you know anything about boxing you'll know that if you out weight your opponent by a significant amount you will have an advantage. Chavez has that advantage over Cotto.

Cotto is a better fighter than Chavez, there is no question about that, but the difference in weight will be substantial, and if Cotto tries to bulk up, he'll just look like a pudgy bulked up fighter with less upper body and leg movement. All the advantages point to Chavez. Although, I think Cotto would make a fight out of it, Chavez would be too big for Cotto.

No mention of where the fight would be held? Chavez was interviewed at MSG Saturday saying he wanted the fight in Mexico and I'm sure Cotto would want it at MSG.

Jr. loves to work on the inside and **** with guys, and Cotto well from his last fight he's getting so much better on the inside he will hurt Jr, he's faster and slicker, and he has one thing that jr doesn't have a JAB! Jr wont get KO'd becuz his head is like a rock, big ole Frankenstein lookin cranium... Plus I don't think he has that KO power, he had Margacheato on the ropes and couldn't KO him, cldn't even KO a smaller Pacroid or hurt him at best, doubt he can KO Jr. but Cotto will win UD... I don't give Jr. props to fight a 154 pounder at all.. I still want him to fight Maravilla, IDK why 160 pounders keep fighting guys at 154... and 154 guys fight guys at 147...

He even got booed by his own people.
Not really sure who you're referring too something that probably happened years ago when Chavez was still green, but the main thing you have to realize now is that Chavez is 25 now in his prime, bigger, stronger, and more seasoned. He's not that same young skinny straggly kid anymore he's a full grown man now. I get what you're saying don't get me wrong but the fact of the matter is.. this is NOW and that was THEN. Cotto is on the downside of his career now, he almost pulled a Prescott barely surviving gassing out vs Margarito last weekend, had the fight not been stopped im not so sure Cotto had the stamina to last. and Chavez is prime and confident coming off one of the best performances of his career combine that with the fact that Chavez is 5 inches taller, has a good chin and would naturally outweigh Cotto by 20+ pounds if they fight and I got Chavez Jr winning... People act as if Cotto just beat a world class opponent or something.. Margarito has always been a bum....Chavez is way more skilled than him..

I agree with you except for Margarito always being a bum. Margarito at one point was a difficult fighter to get by, but, Margarito has been shot ever since the beating he took from Mosley. Ever since then, he's been a shell of himself. Margarito can't pull the trigger anymore.

I don't think Chavez is anything that special. I think he's decent, and I think his size advantage is his biggest weapon.

                I disagree.

Cotto is a skilled boxer puncher. He's not a fighter that's just using physical gifts to overpower his opponents. Chávez doesn't have the necessary skills to beat someone like Cotto, even if he can outweight him 15-20 pounds.

I would agree if we were talking about Andre Berto (a naturally strong, fast guy with average/slightly above average skills), or even a good boxer without much pop like Luis Collazo or Carlos Quintana, ballooning up to a big weight.

Chavez couldn't even put Duddy out.

I think we'll get to see who's right.

Well Cotto said it himself, he said "He's a tough guy" which is true, Marg's one tough SOB just like most Mexicans, they can take a punch and keep on coming, but Cotto never once said he's a good fighter or he has skills because he doesn't, He's just a rugged come forward pressure fighter that anyone with skills and toughness would beat, we all know those type of fighters don't last long, Their usually done by 30, and who knows how long the guy had been fighting with those wraps deceiving us all, so in my book the guy's pretty much a bum especially If he had to cheat to win, I give credit when credit is due but for Marg. i just can't lol

Well I agree and disagree with that assessment, yes Cotto is a skilled boxer/puncher. Thats a fact and there's is no denying that, BUT actually when Cotto was in his 20's, more than often, he did use his physical gifts to overpower his opponents at JW and WW ala Paulie M., Judah, Corley, Bailey...ect and he tried to do it with Pacquiao, but now that he's moved up to his natural weight 154 he's been kind of forced into using his boxing skills more imo but I don't care how skilled you are its hard to BOX someone that can also box and is 5" taller than you and weighs 20 pounds more and also has a higher output than you, guys act as if Jr can't box, he can but usually he just overpowers his smaller opponents an he would do the same with Cotto, Judah, even Yuri Foreman rocked Cotto and with the power I saw Chavez punching with a few weeks ago, Cotto would be in trouble even I was shocked at Chavez's strength, way stronger than he was for the Duddey fight, got to realize when you turn 25 or 26 you get your "MAN strength" chavez still a growing young man so hes a lot stronger now than he was at 23 or 24 he wasn't weighing 180 on fight nights back then...

I agree with you here as well. Cotto used to enter fight night at around 155 pounds when he was at 140.

You can't downplay a 15-20 pound difference in a boxing fight. That is a alot of difference in weight. When you don't lose any speed or stamina, that is a big advantage.

Still, I think Cotto has got the better boxing skills. I wouldn't completely rule out a Cotto win, but with the weight factor, I would have to favor Chavez in a decision.

But here's the thing, who would you favor in a fight between Martinez and Chavez. Martinez would be easily give away 15 pounds to Chavez. In this case, I'd have to favor Martinez because he is more of a boxer than Cotto is, but, I don't think Martinez can win a decision against Chavez, so, it would have to be by KO>
