Benn had fought Melfah in the final of the 86 ABA's and failed to knock him out, and Melfah was stopped prematurely against Graham. Melfah was supposed to be a really good prospect but Eubank finished him, he never was the same again (after Eubank put him to sleep with a long left hook that had quickly followed up a leaping overhand right).
I think Eubank was so deranged that he actually believed he truly was "simply the best",after the Corti fight he started going into detail why he was the most "poetically perfect" fighter in boxing but Gary Newbon had to cut the interview because they were going off air and Eubank just kept speaking jibberish as the show went off air. Crazy.
