yes ,right when it was heating up weve seen enough cotto fights to know he gases out after 5 6 rnds maybe and the way he was getting caught it was just a matter of time, he maybe wouldve ran the clock out ,lets be fair margs isnt the same but cotto and margs were headed there it wouldve been a very interesting 3 rounds. They doctors gave cotto help when he most needed it ,he didnt need it before but at the time of stoppage cotto was gassing out and receiving more and more.

Seriously, I rewatched the fight this morning, and I honestly dont see how ppl thought Marg won the ninth, he did apply mor epressure, but Cotto bombed him like 3 or 4 times, and clearly won it with the cleaner hard shots. I really didnt see Marg landing anythin really significant in that round.

I cant believe people are still complaining about the stoppage. The fight wasnt even competitive. Cotto was winning every round (Margo probably won round 4). The first time I watched it I tought Cotto was tired in the 9th. I watch it again and Cotto hurt Tony twice in that round. Tony was hitting gloves and arms. He didnt hurt Cotto and you can tell that Cotto compared to the first one, he did want to go out there and finish him. Some people dont know how to take defeat. BTW, didnt Tony said that he was taking Cotto out earlier? Wasnt he saying that he was going to KO easier than the first fight? Yeah right.

wow 1 of the corrupt docs agreed with the other? i'm shocked! smoger didn't want it stopped because he's not corrupt. he let wolak fight rodriguez with a much worse looking eye. the difference is wolak was the A-side in that fight. do people not understand how boxing works? they didn't stop it to protect margarito. they stopped it to protect cotto just in case margarito came on late like in the first fight. its their job to use any excuse valid or not to make sure cotto wins. the a-side in boxing always gets the advantages. why didn't they stop the cotto-clottey fight when his eye was destroyed? do you not realize the absurd double standards a-sides and b-sides have in boxing and how unfair it is?

But I think it is stretching it to say that Cotto was " protected ".

I saw nothing to indicate that Cotto was fading, and I saw nothing to indicate that Margarito was stepping up his game.

I think the only thing that was inevitable in that fight, is that Margarito's eye was going to suffer more damage over the next three rounds.

Margarito needed a KO/TKO that looked highly unlikely, and he could have suffered permanent/irreversible damage to an eye that was not only already injured, but the commission had already expressed concern that it had not healed properly.

Look, you could be right, we have all seen guys fight with worse injuries, but Margarito was getting the p1ss beaten out of him, had no chance of winning a decision, is not a 1-punch ko artist, and he needed a minor miracle to reverse his fortunes in that fight.

After the first fight, Cotto was left with a loss that he felt was unjust.

After this fight, Margarito was left with a loss that he felt was unjust.

Margarito has had NO power since the Mosley fight. You say that Cotto ran, so please explain to me what Margarito was doing against Garcia.

***s sake, Margarito the vaunted pressure fighter from hell, was RUNNING HIS ARSE OFF just to keep Garcia off him. Where was his power in that fight?

The fact that Margarito had to resort to movement to keep Garcia off him was a huge red flag to me, that was most un-Margarito-like.

Unbeaten by mexicans and any other ethnic group in the continent of America, and best of all, he is not dominican. We can truly say that no mexican or african american(puerto rican boxers two biggest rivals) has beaten him.

Racial prejudice aside, this was the true loss that had everybody down, most puerto ricans could care less that he lost to Pacquiao, though avenging that loss would be great too.
