Do people think Vitali was scared of Rahman or not?

Let's see some opinions on this, please. I came on here looking for threads about it but no one's posting.

I doubt he was afraid but something is/was obviously bothering him to just retire.....he could have just given up the belt recovered and fought when he is fit which I think he may still do someday....he will easily be right back in the mix should he unretire.

i honestly believe it was more the issue of injuries and being able to fight at his best than anything to do with an opponent.

Oh course he wasnt, Vitali would have butchered Rahman with ease.

I don't know...he wasn't at his best because of his brace, but even with it he coulda beat Rahman. I guess the final straw was him POSSIBLY being knocked down by inferior sparring partners. Combining the both wouldn't give me much confidence going into a big fight either. I bet this is what he's doing...waitiing for his injury to heal, and he's going to train extremely hard asap then fight Rahman and totally blow him out or knock him out, like what Roy Jones Jr coulda done, but he was already done.

I definitely think he was scared, but I don't know why that was the case. You're the heavyweight champion of the world, people are supposed to be afraid of YOU, not the other way around. I'll never understand why such a dominating figure as Vitali was such a wuss inside. Quitting against Byrd? What the ****?

If he fought on against Byrd he would of totally ruined his career. I agree he is mentally weak but with Byrd he had to quit if he wanted to fight again.

Bull****. He didn't have to throw another right hand the entire fight and he would have won on the cards. He's a ****ing *****.
