Manny Steward is a disrespectful ****

What the **** were his comments about last night?

When Murray was getting beat up by Rios but still throwing back, Steward says:

"This often happens because British fighters aren't used to the hard kinda fights"

"Murray has really impressed me tonight with his bravery. Something that most British fighters don't have."

WTF?! What is that based on?

As a Brit, and one of the first to criticize the quality of british boxing (coaching mainly), I am not biased in the slight, I do, MUCH prefer the American and Latino style of fighting. I hate how the coaches are in this country (too heavily on fitness, not on pure skills), but the fighters are not to blame.

BUT, whatever the British fighters' shortcomings are, it is NOT heart, determination, courage or bravery!

    HATTON

    CALZAGHE

    FROCH

    BENN

    EUBANK

    BRUNO

    KHAN

    CONTEH

    HONEYGHAN

    HAMED

    LEWIS

    BUCHANAN

all the way back to COOPER.

His comments were disrespectful and had NO basis whatsoever.

He's just ignorant and a moron.

I've always thought that. For many many years.

I've always felt Steward is overrated immensely, both as an analyst and a trainer.

To say British fighters are known to not have heart is just incredibley ignorant on his part. For someone who has been around Boxing for as long as he has should know better.

I completely agree with you, the only time ive been embarrassed of a British fighter recently was Haye but that is it, very disrespectful comments our fighters always bring it and they all did better than expected this weekend in my opinion...

I didn't hear his comments, but if he said this he's obviously wayyyy off.

Hatton was the only fighter to literally go out on his shield against Pac. Mosley had on his track shoes and DLH remained in his corner. Hatton's whole mentality was either I'm going to knock you out or you knock me out. No grey areas.

I have tons of respect for Froch's heart and courage. Especially when he fought Glen Johnson, I thought to myself, if I had to pick fighters to fight by my side in a dark alley, Froch would definitely be one. He has that no retreat mentality that I respect to the fullest.

Lastly, Murray made me a fan last night. I thought he was purposely picked to fight Rios because of the clear mismatch, but Murray fought to the end like a true warrior. Nothing but respect for him.

If Manny did say this, that has to be one of the most idiotic things said in a while. He still doesn't take Merchant's MBC (Most Biased Commentator) award, but that was definitely the wrong thing to say.

Plenty of tough Brit fighters, Murray fought as hard as he could and even looked good in spots but Bam Bam just was too much. Murray is a warrior and I would love to watch him fight again.
