Fact is Roger is correct in between rounds...he speaks up when things need to change e.g. Castillo fight.

As for this fight - It is so hard to gauge because there are so many factors that have changed things since the first fight, however, Cotto is not great going backwards and his footwork going to the ropes and moving laterally is poor - I have noted it before that Cotto when backing up tends to dance backwards and laterally into southpaw stance before switching back to orthodox to set himself to engage, If Margarito closes the gap quick enough he will punish Cotto while Cotto's body is squared on to him.

However, in the first fight Cotto was landing the cleaner blows for the first half of the fight because Margarito just does not move his head enough and throws a lot leaving himself open. If Miguel had faster feet he could land some blows and dance to the side before Marg can catch him, but he was unable to escape Margarito's pressure the first time so I think it is best for him to do like Mosley and try and pressure Marg himself, while digging to the body.

Accurate description of R.Mayweather's typical comments in just one sentence. I applaud you.

That being said, I don't expect Cotto to blow out Margarito. I expect him to win, and I would love for a freak one round ko of Margarito, but that's wishful thinking.

With chin/stamina/heart, Margo should do ok even if he loses. I don't know if he still has chin, but stamina and heart he should have in excess.

Wh I rewatched the 1st fight. It was the 8th & 9th I believe Cotto got inside of Margarito's chest & fought from there. He has got to do that more, be aggressive stay inside or box outside, but not against the ropes, he cannot back straight up to the ropes. The bottom rope is not his friend. He can't sit on it, thinking it's a chair. Inside & outside.

I always felt the same about Miguel Cotto regarding his skills as a boxer. He is a good fighter but technically he is flawed especially in the defensive department. Miguel Cotto earned my respect but I think he was hyped a little. In every big fight he was taking big shots and in trouble. It was just a matter of tme before a fighter capatilized on his mistakes. In the first fight Cotto didn't fight Margarito like he was fighting Margarito. He basically fought the wrong fight and had no answers for Margarito's pressure to the point that he could not even get to the body and let his best punches off. Paul Williams and Shane Mosley laid two different blue prints on how to beat Antonio Margarito. Cotto should have studied both but referenced the Mosley fight.

              Floyd is the cheater

Everybody in Floyd Family say some is a cheater. Floyd take numb shots in his hands before a fight and that is proven. It's illegal in Vegas but illegal in any other city. Why? That's why Floyd don't fight outside Vegas only in his early career when he was trying to get exposure. So you telling me numbing your hands not cheating?

It's the same thing when he's talking to Floyd between rounds, he's saying basic stuff and you can tell Floyd isn't even listening, just keeping him happy by saying 'ok' every so often.
Where was the disrespect? He simply gave his opinion that he felt Cotto was basic and that he hasn't improved. That was simply his opinion.

I will also say that on the flipside of things ppl can say well Roger Cotto wasnt nearly stopped in the 2nd round against old Shane Mosley but floyd was. Cottos glove never touched the canvas against Judah and alot of people felt Castillo won against Floyd. On top of that Floyd never fought the Clotteys,Margaritos and Pacs so what exactly is your definition of "special" Roger.

I remember a few years ago, when Cotto was undefeated, Roger basically said Cotto was a beast.

Now it's "he's always been basic".

I don't recall Roger ever saying Cotto was a beast, I do recall Cotto people saying he wasn't ready for MM.. I do recall R. Torres having Cotto in deep trouble befor fading out. I do remember Cotto running from Sugar for like 3 rounds and I do remember Judah having Cotto hurt before Cotto low blowing him.. I do remember Cotto quitting first time he faced Cheato. It wasn't the handwraps that beat Cotto, it was Cheato walking thru his punches and Cotto gave everything he had but it did nothing. He lost the fight knowing he couldn't stop Cheato from pressing an coming forward.
