To call someone like Vitali a coward who didn't come from a background of poverty and roughness where he had to fight through injury, etc. He felt it is the dumb thing to fight injured in such a brutal sport. 95% of the complainers have never stepped into a ring in their life. I guess you've never sat out in a sport from grade school or college because you twisted your ankle or hurt your arms huh?

My point being, that until you've been in a sport for 10, 15, 20 years, get to those final years, get injured, old, or begin losing desire to train...then come back and make posts about your decision to keep going on or stepping down...

In the end, you're just pissed off fans because a fight was cancelled...Vitali has done more in his life than many have even dreamed of...

your correct obviously, i look at it from a diffrent view.
if i were to say that wlad sucks, i dont mean i could beat him and hes a terrible boxer. its just a boxing fan voicing his opinion about a boxer in regards to other boxers.
it happens in all sports, like recently, watchin the patriots and duane starks, i constantly duane starks sucks, or he is terrible, but i obviously know he is better at football that i will ever be. i totally understand your point, but i think that all the people here KNOW that vitali or wlad has and will accomplish more than them in their lives, but we are looking at it from a fans point of veiw. hopefully this made some kind of sense...

      anorak,

Ya know, everybody has an opinion on stuff. While having the gloves on at a point in your life will give you great insight, it does not neccesarily mean that your opinion is right and anothers wrong because they have not.

I do think that it is easier to understand things that fighters deal with having been one.

The people that have studied the sport do know alot about the sport. But understand that with the back side of the game, the people who study and read about the game will never get the full picture. So in certain cases they will never really know whats up.

I love it when I meet somebody that I can REALLY talk boxing with. It is rare to find in these days. I appreciate you guys who have taken a great interest in the sport and read what you can. I read everything that I can find on the sport but still find that my lifes experiences with it are invaluable when discussing the sport. I will have seen or will see things that are never going to be written about. Thats just how the game is.

I do love you guys though, this is the only place where I can talk boxing for the most part. Except for that Bassing ***, he's a ****!!!!

That's good, as long as I'm feeling the love.

I do agree when it's people talking about injuries and so on though.

I would box myself but I haven't got the teeth for it. If I see a good bodyshot I do think to myself "If I'd boxed I'd know exactly what that was like"... but then kind of think I'm glad I don't.

I enjoy most threads where no-one starts calling other members names and no-one disrespects fighters except for comedy value. For comedy value, everything is fair game.
We all have made derogatory statements about fighters (hey, how often have YOU praised Ruiz?) but we've all seen the sheer constant vitriol from some of the crazy guys. There's a big difference between complaining that some fighter's style is unpleasant to watch and calling any fighters except your favorites, cowards.
