In the end, we are all just internet fan junkies knowing nothing...

Obviously, many internet junkies are not in any position to call someone a coward. To call someone like Lennox Lewis who has accomplished a hell of a lot vs the best in his era a coward for retiring when his shape and desire faulted at an older age. To call someone like Vitali a coward who didn't come from a background of poverty and roughness where he had to fight through injury, etc. He felt it is the dumb thing to fight injured in such a brutal sport. 95% of the complainers have never stepped into a ring in their life. I guess you've never sat out in a sport from grade school or college because you twisted your ankle or hurt your arms huh?

My point being, that until you've been in a sport for 10, 15, 20 years, get to those final years, get injured, old, or begin losing desire to train...then come back and make posts about your decision to keep going on or stepping down...

In the end, you're just pissed off fans because a fight was cancelled...Vitali has done more in his life than many have even dreamed of...

You don't fully agree with that sentiment do you, Rockin'?

exactly, it isn't basketball where you try to play, then sit out while your teamates carry the load for a few games until you are ready to return...this is a single man sport...and sport where you are looking to hurt and get hurt as part of the game...why get in there to limp on a bad knee only for that to be a distraction to get hit by a fatal right hand?

I do agree completely with my statement.

There are many who can judge one man for doing something or reacting a certain way in a fight, yet they have never experienced it for themselves.

It would be like me trying to tell Nolan Ryan how to throw a fast ball. I might have some little league background in baseball, but what could i tell him that he doesnt already know.

In the gym, when somebody wants to give me somer instruction, I will certainly always listen. However, i find that more times than not I will nod my head and continue my workout, disregarding the instruction of the on looker.

It is the one who thinks that he knows everything that is certain for the down fall. Their ego will catch up and bite them in the ass. I will always listen, consider and then decide upon instruction from others than my trainer. You never know, so consider everything.

Stepping in with a world class fighter with injuries is certainly one of the most dangerous things that you can do in sport. I dont knock vitali for pulling out, however, he should relinquish his belt until he is able to fight again.

I may have misunderstood your question Anorak. If it was about the title than I say no, I do not fully agree with it. There are some who have studied the game that are extremely knowledgable of the game. I do however, hold nothing above first hand experience with this sport. Unless you have done it you will never fully understand the mentality of the fighters or what they go through daily in training aswell as in fights.

There are many knowledgable fans on this site, that is why I love it as I do.

I agree with you, but lets be honest, we all critize these fighters and celebritys at one time or another. But your correct, it isn't right.

Yeah, I think what I'm asking is would you uphold the right of someone to discuss boxing if they'd never actually done it themselves, but just studied it as a sport?

Obviously they're going to be missing out on that one fundamental, but providing they're not talking all of this "Vitali's a *****" crap that's flooded the site today, would you support their right to discuss it?

I ask this as a huge fan of the sport but as someone who's never put the gloves on.
