He beat up DLH who gained 30 pounds from his starting division and now ring magazine are talking about immortality.
He beat up tito (pretty bad yeah) who was also from the lower weight classes.
Now he is a legend, he has beaten noone of any significance.
Roy Jones who is constantly slammed for fight cops and Garbage men fought the mandatories has fought at Heavyweight and he dominated ruiz after round 1.
He also beat Hopkins with a broken hand.
I dont think Hopkins deserves any of the praise lavished on him today.
I fully agree with your statement.

He's overrated...if he never had fought Tito or DLH, just a few ppl would know about him, are his title defenses impressive? Of course...Would that alone make him a hall of famer???...He could have gone up/down in weight and make bigger fights...but he hasn't...

That broken hand excuse is pure bull**** by Roy.

Hopkins' place among the top 5 Middleweights of all time is set in stone. He's fought the best avaliable to him. Its alot like the situation Tyson was in when he was a kid. Its not so much who he is beating, but how he is beating them. Bernard Hopkins has maybe lost 4 rounds in the past 5 years he's been so dominate.

Funny how no one talked about Tito being small when he destroyed Joppy huh. Its just an excuse haters like to throw in.

He's been dominant at 160, but that alone doesn't make him so "great" as ppl say...of course that the quality of opponents matters, let's see how he ends his career, that will tell if ppl will call him an "all time great"...

what do you mean by the Tito-Joppy fight? Tito beat a real middle...Why Nard hasn't gone up to fight someone like Lacy/Calzague? Or even go down to fight someone like Winky? Maybe cuz his primary goal is his title defenses at 160 is the only way to make his mark at boxing history?

IMO "Great Fighters" do "Great Fights"...IMO his only great fight was against Tito... against DLH we could say that he got a free ride, I don't know if Jones-Nard was a great fight cuz i havent seen it, but he lost....

Hopkins did what he did and thats brake the record for defenses in his divsion but other than that not much to give him cerdit for,the best boxers look for the other best no matter what the cost.

Hopkins is EASILY a hall of famer. If he isn't what does that say about Trinidad? Hopkins will retire after beating the best middleweights available to him AND setting a record for middleweight title defenses.

I always admired Hopkins for staying at 160. He is an all-time great in my book and I believe that he would have been in the fight with any middleweight in history, coming out on top in most instances.
