Horrible article, comparing Margarito to Resto is like executing someone who stole a sweetroll. This is really hating on a boxer. The worst thing is that the haters do not even care to read the official analysis of what was found in the gloves. The haters claim it was something like concrete stone, while officially it was 'a thin pad that contained sulfur and calcium'. There are no facts on how much such a thing increases the effectiveness of punches, if it is more than 5% then I would be surprised. Imho using PEDs will enhance your punching power more than using such a pad...

Illegal inserts and illegal substances..... wow, what a coincidence.
The same substances that just so happen to be the primary components of plaster of paris..... wow, what a coincidence again.
Are you actually Bob Arum ?Comment

I hate saying this because Lyle Fitszimmons is a boring/idiot writer but I agree with his point on this fight.
I hate the fact that Margartio is making career high paydays AFTER he get's caught trying to cheat but I'm still going to watch the fight.
I"m not paying for it anyways, I'm catching a stream of this fight.Comment

Agreed. But punishment for Margarito should have been worse though, imo. Maybe not a ban, but certainly not fighting after a year let alone for title shots.Comment

Fact is -
Cotto's corner is ****** for not watching the wrapping of Margarito's gloves before their fight - due to respect I believe.
Margarito has never been proven to have used illegal wraps in the ring.
We all discount Margarito's argument that 'he didn't know the hardened material was there' due to his long years and experience in the ring. However, the hardened material wasn't present at first. It was wet and then hardened. If Margarito's trainer wrapped his hands and then began to place the wet layer on top, it would be difficult to notice until it hardened up significantly. Even then, a boxer who is concentrating on a big fight and not on the wrapping of his hands might struggle to tell the difference or be too pre-occupied to care.
Guilty or not guilty, this is a fight boxing needs to see, and one Cotto and Margarito need to fight.Comment

I just dont think we should compare the two. Resto had his hands covered in plaster AND had the padding from his gloves stripped.
While what marg did was tasteless and dangerous i think it's been blown up to be something it's not.Comment

Good article; Margarito should have been handed a lifetime ban, it's a shame that Pac's damage to him was only minimal in comparison to what Marg could have done had he not been caught. Question is how long was he doing it for, Cotto was winning the first fight and outsmarting Margarito till it caught up with him. I'm rooting for Cotto, all respect I had for Marg is out the window after that & anyone who supports him obviously is unaware of the Billy Collins story and the aftermath of that defeat.Comment

Tell me something I don't know... still there is no indication how effective that thing actually wasComment
