Boxing Stars are not being made IN THE RING ANYMORE...they are being MOLDED AND CREATED BY PROMOTERS AND NETWORKS, then they basically FORCE FEED US these OVERRATED FIGHTERS!

At 154...Alvarez top ranking was PURCHASED by GBP! How has he earned it? By beating Matthew Hatton? lol I think someone like Austin Trout would Box Circles around Alvarez but Trout gets left out of Big Matches because he does not have the "BIG PROMOTIONAL/NETWORK BACKING"

I am actually more impressed with Broner though, people bashing him and Al Haymon but he end up fighting a "BUM" because the title holder RAN FROM HIM! So I can't point the finger at Broner, they even tried to get Eloy Perez to come fight him and he did not want to do it so the plan was not for Broner to win the title against a BUM like Alvarez did, they wanted Burns but he DUCKED BRONER!

I really don't see the gripe with Alvarez.

Since becoming champ he has fought two legit opponents in Cintron (who beat Angulo) and Rhodes (a long time contender who's title shot was long overdue).

Gomez was decent as well, but the thing is Alvarez fights so often that there are bound to be some soft touches here and there (ala Matthew Hatton and Ndou)

Bottom line, I like the job GBP is doing with Canelo and how they are bringing him along.

i think the gripe is on how he got his title....and i think youre overrating the cintron match.....i mean kermit hasnt looked good in a fight in 2 years....rhodes earned his shot, so cant hate on that fight...

plus the fact that they always use his age as an excuse for not fighting real threats...and the fact that his ego is so big(i mean the guy basically says pacquiao and dlh were no one at 21...so i guess been an olympic champion and a former lineal flyweight champion<<<< beating matt hatton for a jrmw belt and not even making the catchweight

Then there's Broner. Got a gift against Ponce & now he's supposed to be some kinda champ. Really? I believe champs should be fighting world class fighters. Not former world class fighters but prime world class fighters. When Max asks these suckers who they want next, I'd like to here one word, UNIFY.
I agree on Chavez, but Canelo is on the right path IMO. He is steadily stepping up in competition, we'll see what happens from here. Broner seems to want the best, we'll see if his actions back that up.

You seem to have more of a problem with how easy it is for them to get a belt than the fighters themselves though, which I completely agree with.

Canelo is 21 a lot of guys are either still amateurs or are still fighting 4 rounders when they are 21.

remind me who was Juan Manuel Marquez fighting at 21 years old? who was B-Hop fighting at 21 years old? Who was Wlad fighting at 21 years old? I guess they all turned out to be bums too right????

Yup, it's hard for a guy like you to even realize what he's saying nowadays. It's been years since Cintron could be taken seriously. Got handled by Molina & barely beat an espn fight. Tell me when did Cintron beat Angulo, I know it was before his year & some months layoffs. Remember? I know, It's hard to get away from the ******* logic. "But Pacman destroyed DLH!!". Sure guy, cause that's the welterweight version of Oscar from 99 right? Get lost.

You do realize that you wrote the bold right. Do you even realize what that means. Canelo is supposed to be a champion right now, time for stepping up in comp has long passed. But you are right, they are bringing a champion along & stepping up in class. How does that make any sense?

I suggest you actually read the opening post because it's clear that you didn't.

It doesn't make sense that he got a belt in the first place, which is the main problem here, but for his age and for how often he fights, he's looking good. I ignore belts these days, they are degraded down to the point of being meaningless. For his age, Alvarez is being brought up right, and I'm not going to be mad at him or judge him harshly because the WBC decided to gift wrap him a championship.

Cintron was a good win, and hopefully within two fights he can step in the ring with someone like Molina or Kirkland, who pose serious threats but Alvarez has the talent to beat. If they keep babying him, I'll be right along with you. For now I'll cut him a break.

I read the opening post and its ******ed. You think just because of an irrelevant title Canelo should be fighting the best fighters in the universe. Canelo is 21 and is WAY ahead of schedule compared to most elite fighters

Exactly, the point of the tread is they are giving Canelo a pass, bringing him up this way, but he is supposed to be a champ. If you bring him up slowly, do that, but don't tatoo the title of champ on his forehead when he's not on the championship level yet, period.
