Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Arum Under Pressure, Pacquiao Wants Floyd

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya is delighted with the recent news that Manny Pacquiao, the WBO's welterweight champion, held a recent press conference in General Santos City in the Philippines, and told local reporters that he was very interested in fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr., the WBC champion at 147, in 2012. Mayweather has a reserved date of May 5th on HBO and the MGM Grand in Las Vegas has been placed on hold.

what's Pacquiao supposed to say? "no I don't want to fight Mayweather"

this fight won't be make at least for a few more years. Leonard v Hagler took a decade to make. neither guy is going to wreck a good thing. when Mayweather or Pacquiao start taking blows in PPV number then they'll fight each other.

as long as both can draw over a million in PPV buys, why fight each other?

Pac probably fights Marquez, Bradley, Rios and maybe even Gamboa before Arum lets him fight Floyd.

Mayweather is fine without Pacquiao. when he can make 80-20 splits with guys, he makes even more then he'd make with Pacquiao. Mayweather v Pacquiao would have to sell over 3 million to get him the money he's making now.

It's up to Arum and Floyd now if they want this fight to happen.
Hopefully Floyd won't demand any more road blocking demands and Arum won't sweet talk PAC into fighting JMM again.
