Comments Thread For: Andrew Golota Starts Sparring, Comeback Pushed Up

Heavyweight Andrew Golota (41-8-1, 33 KOs) is moving forward with his planned comeback and recently started sparring. The Polish star, who lives in Chicago, was initially going to return at the end of November, and then the rumors had him coming back in early 2012, but Golota expects to hit the ring in early December - likely in Chicago. The exact date and opponent are unknown. Golota would like to avenge a five round TKO loss to countryman Tomasz Adamek.

        could have been great

big, aggressive, good chin, excellent jab and combos & a hard punch. Golota could have been GREAT. I remember an artical in a boxing mag by Barry McGuigan after the first Bowe fight where he said 'This guy has it all and can be world champion if someone can get his head together'. Profetic words by Barry and thats just how it turned out. Andrew & his team blew it. In retrospect he heralded in the domination of the heavyweight division by eastern europeans. Still i'll always be a fan.

he's probably looking at the current scene and thinking I could still be competitive here, which is probably true. He will always be the guy who retired Bowe.
