Cotto wanted Chavez earlier this year and Arum said no because Chavez was not ready for someone like Cotto. Now that Cotto's contract is up after the Margarito fight Arum wants to give him the fight. Well if Chavez can make 156-157 and there is a limit of 165-170 on fight night than why not? It would give Cotto a chance at 4 titles in 4 different divisions.

Oh yeah I completely agree, JCC Jr is crap, I wouldn't give him a chance at all against Martinez, but I would give him a chance against Cotto not because he's a better boxer or anything, just because he's going to be huge on fight night against Cotto, who is a natural WW, not a MW.

However with Margarito he won't have that advantage since Margarito is a tall boxer (5' 11'') and Jr is 6' 0'' so that would make maybe a better fight. Margarito is a guy with a lot of stamina and would throw punches non stop, while Chavez Jr IMO has a stamina problem, the guy tends to get tired early in his fights.

The problem is JCC jr is a middleweight and should be fighting the top middleweights. Cotto shouldn't even be at 154 let alone 160. It just shows that JCC jr will never be the man in the division.

Point is, you want a fight where the expected outcome is a blowout, over what would considered a MUCH closer and possibly competitive fight.

He should be fighting top middleweights because he has a belt and he also considers himself a top fighter. If he isn't willing to get in there with the best fighters of his own size, what's the point of saying you're a top fighter? If he wants to fight Cotto, fine but don't say you're trying to be one of the best.

This is very true. People think Chavez would easily destroy cotto is a "bad" fight, yet a fight where Sergio destroys JCC jr is "where it's at"

Maybe because most of us want to see Chavez Jr. get destroyed already? The guy is going to reach 80-0 before fighting anybody worth a damn, he's suppose to be the WBC champ yet he should somehow be protected from the best fighter in the division.

No, he should be fighting top middleweights because he is a middleweight champion. He doesn't need to carry a championship belt if he is looking for even-money fights. He can, you know, fight those even-money fights without a belt around his waist. God knows that little fairy is popular enough to sell a fight against Miguel Cotto without a fucking green trinket around his waist.

I don't like that either. I want JCC jr to lose, yes but basically to put him in his place. I'd respect JCC jr more though if he did get in there and got his ass beat though. If you're not willing to fight the best, what kind of athlete are you?
