He is a much better fighter than Lennox Lewis.
I think peoples problem with Lennox is that he has always been substancially better than most of the fighters he has fought and by disposing of them easily via KO or points has given people the impression that he doesn't show heart. He has rarely been in a situation where he has had to show great efforts of tremendous heart because he beat all but two of his opponents and beat them both bad in the rematches.

I didn't like Lewis for jumping ship, from Jamaca to CA then the UK. He got my respect and I started liking him after Bowe dumped the belt. I felt Bowe was afraid of him, and I liked Bowe quite a bit too! Many people think that Lennox is ****y and stuck on himself. I am giving excuses that I have heard. I am not a Lewis hater myself. I think he played the game better than many of the HWs in my lifetime.

The guy always fought safe unless he was in there with a garbage fighter (Ruddock, Morrison, McCall). If he had ko'ed Holyfield in the first fight, he would've gotten alot more props than he did. He made his choice and now has to live with it.

Bowe dumping that title did come across that he was running scared. I think if they would have fought it would have been an unpredictable fight. Although at the time when the proposed fight was Bowe was already on a decline.

True he wasn't the most exciting fighter in some of his fights but been cautious was the way to go. Getting KO'd by McCall proved to Lennox that his chin could be vulnerable for which he adopted a more cautious style after that. Against the really big hitters he knew he had to out fight them and thats what he did.

Prince Naseem Hamed was very popular. I know alot of non-boxing fans who knew and talked about him..

But he made a choice and has to live with the reprecussions of it. He will never be mentioned alongside the Ali's, Dempsey's, or the Marciano's because of his style.

I'm not sure to be honest, he was definatly the best Heavyweight of the modern era. He has gone down in the history books as a great but how much of a great i'm not sure. Where does he rate in your all time Heavyweight rankings?

I think he's not among the elite:
                      1)Muhammad Ali
                      Jack Dempsey
                      Rocky Marciano
                      Larry Holmes

But is in the greats, second tier:
                      ---
                      2) Lennox Lewis
                      Joe Frazier
                      George Foreman
                      Mike Tyson
                      Ezzard Charles

                      He's second class of 4.

                      3) Good, but not great:
                      Floyd Patterson
                      Sonny Liston
                      Ingemar Johnanssen
                      Gene Tunney
                      Jimmy Ellis

                      4) Titlists:
                      Trevor Berbick
                      Chris Byrd
                      Pinklon Thomas
                      Mike Weaver
                      George Chuvalo
