Vitali Klitschko – Pretender To The Throne

That’s it. There will be no more passive shrugs of the shoulder from this corner in regards to Vitali Klitschko and his claims to heavyweight supremacy. Forget the fact that Ring Magazine recognizes him as their champion – I’m sure they’re pretty annoyed with the lumbering Ukrainian who can’t seem to keep his body healthy enough to defend his plastic championship belt.

Athletes get hurt, but champions fight through the pain. Klitschko’s postponing of his defense against Hasim Rahman yet again is unbecoming of an apparent champion.

Is it just me or does Vitali Klitschko remind you of that kid in high school who had all the physical gifts to succeed at any sport he tried, but none of the heart of the scrawny kid on the bench, who was always passed over, and never got the opportunity to show?

In no other sport does a fighting heart mean more than overall talent than boxing. So overwhelming is the struggle to get that shot at glory that true fighters ignore injury because they live with the knowledge that one lucky punch, one money shot, may only happen one specific night. Catching lightening in a bottle is something every fighter dreams of. They fight on and on for that night. Vitali Klitschko says he’s a man of that desperation, but Hasim Rahman, despite any fistic deficiency, lives that reality. And Klitschko keeps snatching his moment away from him. [details]

I don't like klitschko I find this injury sequence su****ious to the least but I don't care about HWs lately

"Vitali Klitschko is a joke" it's ok in a forum but is a bit too much from a professional writer, how many pro fights mr.hurley? how many years fighting how much strain on your muscle and depriovations because of training to call this ugly, boring, unchamplike fighter, yet a fighter, a "joke". how unprofessional... again its ok by internet thugs not by a good writer

If a fighter can't make it thru training camp , how the hell is he gonna fight? Sounds like its time to hang em up. Maybe he could fight his brother.

If he's not willing to fight rock theirs no way in hell he's gonna even consider fighting his bro. The Rock is nothing compared to his bro.

a Champion fights through the pain
I completely disagree. No fighter could ever say this and beleive it to be true. No fighter wants to walk into the ring at anything less than 100% ready, especially when their putting on a show for millions worldwide.

I cant say im happy he pulled out, but it was certainly the sensible thing to do from his perspective and i respect him for that.

Why should he risk getting beaten, potentially injured even worse, in the ring? why not wait and give the fans a decent show?

Im sure u'd all be the same people on here b!tching about the fight being lame and dismissing vitali's excuses if he did fight and put in a sub-par performance, so just accept that he's going to wait till he's 100% and deal with it. He fights on his terms not ours or urs

i can understand why people are critisizing vitali right now.

but calling him a pretender to the throne and not throwing that label at byrd or the bum ruiz just doesnt work.
