Your analysis is very good. I do not know what is going on with Manny, but he used to follow Roach's advice very well. Now he seems to be doing his own thing, as though he believes that he has evolved beyond the need for advice or, more likely, he is very distracted. This is not to discount Marquez's ability as a boxer/counter puncher. If Manny had followed Roach's advice Marquez might have adjusted, but he probably would have made a clearer argument for his win.
I thought the fight was very even and the win could have gone either way. I do feel, though, that Marquez won the moral victory for two reasons: A) he made a convincing case for his win via his performance and B) part of that performance was slowing Manny down and making him appear ordinary.
