I mean, so many people are saying that Marquez was washed up at age 38, who took too many wars but the thing is - why can't we just accept that he did a massively great job fighting with Pacquiao? We're blinded sometimes with Pacquiao's star status that we simply don't think anything less than a dominating performance is satisfactory. Can we not simply come to the conclusion that Pacquiao isn't getting any worse but rather that Marquez has always been a great fighter and will always have Pacquiao figured more than any other boxer.

Conclusion - disappointing performance from Pacquiao or perhaps this just shows how great a fighter JMM is? Let's deconstruct JMM's losses -

- A loss to Floyd, the #1 pound for pound fighter in my opinion. Not much can be said about this. JMM was expected to lose and losing to Floyd isn't shameful.
- A split-decision loss to Pacquiao, which was highly debatable
- A loss to Chris John - I didn't watch this fight. Hopefully others can comment on it but it seems as though JMM was lost fairly and afterall, Chris John is still undefeated.
- A loss to Freddie Norwood - again, didn't watch the fight and hopefully someone can comment on it
- A debut disqualification. Not really sure what happened but I don't really rate this as a loss. Knowing JMM, he did something accidently or in the thick of the moment.

The more I look at it, I don't ever realise why we all thought Pacquiao would blow Marquez out. Was it the weight, the age or a combination of both? Doesn't the fact that he's fought Pacquiao twice before to controversy mean anything? Why were we all surprised? Should we be surprised?

For the record, I watched the fight twice: I still have Pac winning 7-5, which could have easily been the other way around for Marquez.

For the record, I never thought Pacquiao was going to blow Márquez out. I knew he would do great and give Pacquiao fits because of the styles, but I never expected him to do SO good either...

And after having watched the fight three times (once streamed, twice on replay), I always have Márquez edging it.

He wins the rounds more convincingly than Pacquiao does...
