Vitali - KOed in 1 by Oleg Maskaev?

Just been reading a Sinan Simal Sam interview here and he reckons that Oleg KOed Big Klit in 1 round when they were both amateurs.

Anyone else heard of this? As for Sam himself, he deserves his shot. He's 24-2 (15 KOs) and has worked hard for his position, rather than being given the opportunity by luck (*cough* Rahman & Golota *cough*). Even if he's crap and gets beat, he earnt that right to be there. Whatever happened to boxers working their way up the rankings anyway?

I don't know if he was KOed but yeah, Oleg Maskaev was the very few that did beat Vitali in the amateurs.

I heard from ESPN Friday night fights when Oleg fought that in 1991 he scored a first round TKO against Klitschko but he wasnt knocked down in the fight.

Ah, so possibly it could have been a gap in punch stats that caused the competition to stop? (If there's a gap of... 25, is it?... punches someone automatically wins, right?)

We need to find out more about Big Klit's amateur record, don't we?

It was a TKO. Vitali quit after the 1st round after hurting his arm. Just another reason people call him a quitter.

I have heard that before, but I haven't seen their amateur records. Also, you should get that cough looked at.

There was a big article on this, Vitali hurt his right arm, and ring doctor stopped the fight because Vitali kept trying to use it. So yes, it was a TKO.
