Well cutting the ring was devise to contain the movement of your opponent but Marquez is not going sideways but he opted to remain in line with the approach of Manny...Marquez is not escaping nor afraid to engage...He's biding more time by stepping backward to see more the approach of the punches or the target he's going to hit...So cutting the ring is not the issue here because we all see that Manny is just mirroring the steps of Marquez and that keep the distance but absolutely there's a gap that must be crossed dangerously if Manny wants the fight to happen...
