Marquez has the best position right now ... he left the fight as a hero, Manny as the villain.
Now about Marquez saying that he wants the fight in Mexico, well he's doing the right thing, he's not going to Las Vegas again because he won't get the decision there, no matter what.
I've been seeing a lot of guys saying that Pacquiao is the PPV star, that Marquez is in no position to ask for a 50-50 split or to make his conditions to this possible 4th fight, and yeah Manny is the star, but his image was seriously hurt by this fight and now he's the one that's after Marquez, not the other way around.
Right now who's going to benefit more from a 4th fight, Manny or Marquez? Certainly Marquez would benefit from getting finally a record win against Manny, however Pacquiao is the one that needs this fight to clean his image.
There's another possibility of course, Manny could refuse Marquez conditions, but then what? I've been seeing also a lot of guys saying that Manny could fight other guys such as Bradley or Maidana. Really? The desert storm? The guy who brings about 2,000 people to watch his fights? I won't say he's a bad boxer, but he's really boring for most fans and even with a win for Pacquiao it won't prove anything ... Bradley isn't Marquez or Mayweather.
About the fight being in Mexico, why not? Lots of people in here talk like they know everything about Mexico, but they don't know crap about it, just some of the stuff they read on the internet or watch in the news. Mexico is certainly prepared to host a fourth fight between Marquez and Pacquiao. Just in this year Mexico hosted the Pan american games and the under 17 FIFA World Cup, and even before that a lot of stadiums were rebuilt and some of them were just made for the mexican football league, for example the Omnilife Stadium in Guadalajara, a first world stadium with a capacity of 50,000.
Now the drug cartel situation (to which almost everybody seems to know everything about) ... that problem is really serious, I won't say it isn't, but it happens a lot in the north part of the country, and some states more in the south, but Jalisco (where the Omnilife stadium is) and Mexico City (Azteca stadium, over 100,000 capacity) don't have this problems with the drug cartels.
So let's be honest, why not? I mean I don't want to see a 4th fight because I don't think that Marquez has anything left to prove, for me and for most mexicans he's the true winner, and I can tell you that right now Marquez is the most popular guy in the country, he was received as a national hero and he hasn't been any more popular than he's right now.
But just in case there's a 4th fight, Marquez is doing the right thing, he's not asking for the impossible, I mean Marquez went 2 divisions up and got about 1/8 of the money that Pacquiao got for their last fight. Marquez can establish the country, more money of course, and if I was him I would also make this fight at 140 pounds, which IMO is not illogical since it would be a middle point in weight for both Pacquiao and Marquez.
But hey, if Pacquiao doesn't wants the fight anymore, that's just fine, he can go on and fight Bradley, but would that really sell the same as a 4th fight with Marquez? Would it restore Manny's reputation? I don't think so...
Oh and by the way, don't just talk about money, sure Marquez would love to get more money from a 4th fight, but don't forget he isn't Margarito or Clottey... he could've gone in there with Manny with absolutely no preparation and get KOd and he still would've gotten his $5 million + PPV, but he didn't ... Marquez isn't just about money, as he said in an interview that was made to him and Nacho, yeah money is important and that's why most boxers turn pro, but winning is even more important and I'm sure you can all agree that's the mentality that Marquez has and always will have. Oh, and Marquez has millions of dollars, he has a famous gym in Mexico City and has all the tools to become a great trainer once he retires ... not everything is about money, but if it was, Marquez is already a very rich man.
