Marquez Sets Conditions For Pacquiao Rematch

Juan Manuel Marquez sets conditions for a 4th bout with Manny Pacquiao
    Ricardo Lois, Latino Boxing Examiner
    November 15, 2011

Just days away from a majority decision defeat to Manny Pacquiao, Juan Manuel Marquez set conditions for a fourth bout with the Filipino boxing icon.

“Now I am the one who will put forth the conditions. I want to see if it is true that Manny Pacquiao fights for the people. First he has to accept that he lost, the WBO must not accept the decision they gave him, and give him a no-contest,” Marquez told Mexican news outlet Proceso.

In the days following Saturday nights bout between Marquez and Pacquiao, their third, promoter Bob Arum has made public comments about pursuing a fourth bout between the two boxers.

Marquez also noted he would want atleast 10 million dollars for a fourth fight with Manny Pacquiao, and would want the event to be housed in Mexico City’s Estadio Azteca.

Yet Marquez is not sure if he will retire or continue boxing, stating that a decision will be made within twenty days.

If Marquez sticks to his guns on these conditions, fight ain't happening. So everything should be cleared up in 3 weeks or so.

LOL, it won't get changed to a no-contest. No way Pacquiao agrees to that, I guess we won't get a 4rth match.

Marquez basically wants Pacquiao to admit it to the Filipino people that he felt he lost. He won't do that. Asking for a no-contest is basically admitting he lost.

I understand this and I can see it from his POV. If he's going to fight Pac again it has to be worth his while.

But to I can't see Pac admitting defeat.

Man, Marquez can't ask for this one. He won't do it! He won't admit it! It would make boxing look bad, it would expose HBO even more, Bob Arum would look bad. Everyone would know whats up.

so you want pacquiao to just pretend he lost a fight he clearly won...

then risk his life in mexico?
