Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao vs Juan M. Marquez III: Trainers' Takes

Ronnie Shields (Pacquiao): “I think Pacquiao wins. I think he’s still too big and too strong. He’s been at that weight for a while now. He’s fought some big guys at that weight. Marquez has only been up that way one time, but his last couple fights have been back down at 135. I don’t care how big he gets. He still won’t be able to handle Pacquiao’s speed and power, I don’t believe. I’m going to say Pacquiao by late stoppage. After like seven, eight rounds, I think Pacquiao will knock him out.

I'm sticking to my predictions Pacquiao wins 6 Round KO. Marquez might go to sleep like Ricky Hatton. I agree with everything they said but I think it ends a little sooner.

Only Bob Arum and the pac fanboys think JMM has a chance and they're only saying this because they want to give the perception that Pac is fighting a better JMM than what Mayweather did 2 years ago..

This fight could have been great if it was between LW and JWW because Pac and JMM are the same size.

Why is this fight in PPV? Why is this fight for the 147lbs title? Oh.... too quench our thirst for boxing! Just like giving a baby a bottle of sour milk and charging us for the pleasure of cleaning up the vomit!

As much respect as I have for Pacman.... come on, Mosley, Margarito and now Marquez. The fighters are either too old, under the weight or over the weight. Before I get hammered by all the Pacman lovers, I'm just saying... in between PPV at least lets have a fight were he is not a 5-1 favorite. The same goes for the rest of the protected paper champions that like politicians are more interested in keeping their belts than to accepting challenges!

Don't believe the hype. First, they are the same size and both are in great shape. So why is Pac bigger and stronger? Second, age is relative; Pac aint no spring chicken either. Finally, the key will be the first one who lands a meaningful punch. Cotto, Margo, Clottey, Shane and Oscar had no ability to land and punches with power. Jmm has demonstrated in the last two fights that he can hit Pac, and hit him hard. JMM lands a monstrous left hook to the liver earlier on and wins via tko 10th.

After being destroyed by George Foreman and going into his third fight with Muhammad Ali, what did most people suggest?

Thats what we have going on here, and Marquez hasnt been "Foremaned" Marquez may just be Mannys Smokin Joe

and to say that Marquez is not in better shape than he was for Mayweather, well you should just come out and tell the truth, you want Floyd goo in your face badly

That's the problem... all you wrote above is the "Hype". The promoters and networks want us to believe that this a worthy and competitive fight for the P4P... an this is nothing but a "stay busy fight" while they iron out the Mayweather lottery.

I have no problems with seeing both of this fighters multiple times per year... but to see them fight each other on a PPV card is just not sensible and sustainable. This is the reason the sport is making no new fans and is steadily losing the few it has right now.

Pacman totally brutally dominates and might even carries Marquez to the finish line out of respect to a fellow warrior.

I didn't say he was or wasn't, nobody will know until tonight. What I said, is that fanboys like yourself are trying to give the perception that JMM is in fact better.

Based off history, JMM does not and has not performed well above 140 like Pac has. This fight was made at 144 because Team Pac knows this... they wanted the advantage like Mayweather did.

Now carry on you silly silly goose you.

How am I a fan boy? cus I dont suck Floyds balls and beg for him to goo on my face? I am picking Marquez to win, does that make me a Pac fan boy?

Sometimes like it or not the fighter and the trainer know what they are talking about, both agreed that Marquez used different methods for the Mayweather fight that hurt them going in, then you had Mayweather fail to honor the contract that also plays a factor
                    .
What other fight has JMM fought at 140? I mean you really cant say that to be honest he has only had two fights at 140 or better, one against Floyd who failed to make the weight (Which honestly is ****ing classless) you going to call for a catch weight match then fail to make the weight, I mean lets be real you talk **** about Catch weight fights to start out with but whats worse a catch weight bout?

Or a catch weight fight in which the bigger guy out right fails to make the weight?

Style wise this is always going to be a good match IMO, However what has always given Marquez trouble with Manny is them left hands, dropped him 4 times, the left hook of Mayweather dropped him and the left hook of Katsidias dropped him meaning he needs to get that right hand up a bit higher, but note each time he was dropped he got right back up they were mostly flash knock downs
