I haven't seen *****s rooting for JMM. Actually I haven't seen anyone root for JMM in this fight period.

On the flip side, it is the Pac fans who are saying this will be competitive. I don't know if its because they doubt Pacs abilities or if they think the JMM that Mayweather already beat is that great in the WW division.

Either way, nobody is actually rooting for JMM. Everyone knows Pac will win and I'm sure even the hardiest *****s out there are rooting for Pac so the Mayweather Pac fight will happen because if JMM wins, there will be another fight.

Then again if it is that competitive and Pac still can't handle a counter punchers style, I don't even need to see Pac fight Mayweather. I would rather see Pac learn how to actually beat a LW counter puncher at WW for a fourth show down.

      Simple explanation.
Floyd fans are dissing Marquez and are saying that this is a mismatch so that Pac gets no credit whatsoever if he wins. In addition, they are also trying to dampen the interest of others from buying the PPV, hoping to prevent the possibility of their idol from being upstaged.

      • ^^ It is a mismatch though.

Hardly the case, I like Mosley but said he needed to hang them up after Floyd gave him a retirement check. I like JMM but said he should NEVER fight above 140 after Mayweather beat him.

Pac and JMM are the same size and this fight could have been made between LW and JWW... Like Mayweather, Pac wanted a bloated JMM. The difference is, nobody back in 2009 knew how JMM would be when fighting Mayweather at WW. We all know now, hence why nobody is picking JMM to win, hence why your saying everyone is "dissing" JMM... How is anyone "dissing" JMM when everyone is saying he is a great fighter but should not be fighting over 140?

With your logic, you're agreeing that JMM should not be fighting above 140 and you are calling out all the people who state this and "dissing" them because they are telling it like it is because it is killing your agenda... Look around nobody is picking JMM, not because people are "dissing" him like you want to think. It's because JMM can not handle fighting above 140 which is why this fight is demanded at a CW of 144. Why do you think Mayweather did the same?

First, there is this misrepresentation that these two fighters are not similar in size. Marquez hasn't been fighting below 140 at fight night for the past several years. That clearly shows that he has been cutting weight in order to fight in a lower weight division. Pac has stopped doing that and opted to fight in his natural weight. As has been pointed out, the difference between these two is not size but their abilities to face bigger guys. Pac has proven he can, and actually dominate, while Marquez, in his lone attempt, failed to do so. But this was against the other dominant fighter in the division and it was his first attempt. Furthermore, he was coming from two divisions lower, making it somewhat too ambitious on his part. Pac did it a little more cautiously, one step at a time.
I hope this now makes it clearer to you that size is not the issue.

To the clamor that this fight should have been at 140 or lower, this is simply an attempt to handicap Pac by insisting that he should fight Marquez at a weight he hasn't been in for almost three years now. Those saying that he can easily make 140 or lower, are ignoring the fact that Pac has not come in on weigh-in lower than 144 since the Cotto fight. If Floyd could not cut 2 lbs for Marquez, why ask Pac to cut 4? Again, it should be emphasized here that unlike against Floyd, Marquez is not fighting a bigger guy but a guy of similar size who fought bigger guys and dominated.

Sure, asking Pac to come down one division lower could make the fight more competitive. It could lower Pac's optimum capability, thereby giving Marquez a higher chance of winning. But in the real world of boxing, a challenger who does not command the upper hand in the negotiations, cannot enforce his demands to make a fight become more to his advantage. He has to be satisfied with whatever small concessions come his way, and in the case of this fight, a limit of 144 is better than the maximum of 147.

Marquez has always been the guy who was running after Pac since their last fight, and not the other way around. He is guaranteed $5m for this., his biggest paycheck ever. It is his misfortune that to get this, he has to prove that he can come up to Pac's level and defeat him, not for Pac to come down to his level just to accomodate him.

They COULD have fought between LW and JWW as Pac couldn't even make 144. It's funny how people are making it sound is if Pac is this big WW now. Is he big or small? Bottom line they are the same size, Pac's been fighting at WW for a few years now, granted he's only fought one Champion and ironically that was at a CW too.

However, JMM has only fought once at WW and looked bad. It is well known amongst everyone that JMM does not belong at WW. Look around. Do some reading, most everyone's comments who are making picks start off saying JMM does not belong at WW, or due to the weight, etc etc... JMM is a GREAT fighter and took Pac to hell twice, and this is WHY the fight is at 144. Pac wants to see the bloated LW that Mayweather fought. End of story.

Bernard Hopkins at 38 was at his if not close to his prime still.

At 28 Morales was already Past prime.

It's not the age...It's the weight man.

              • i just noticed that both their fight records are very similar. JMM might have trouble adjusting to the added weight

The problem is, this is what people bash Floyd for. I.E. Ricky Hatton. Everyone wanted the fight and Hatton was a JWW undefeated and undisputed Champion, Floyd was bashed because he didn't accommodate Ricky and fight at JWW even though Hatton had already won a title at WW before. JMM has not even won a fight at WW let a lone a title.

Pac and JMM are the same size and Pac could have put his WW belt down for a moment (like he did when he fought at JMW), and moved down to between LW - JWW to make the BEST fight possible. People bash Floyd for not making the best fights possible but only making it where he is accommodated and has all of the advantages.

Now we have a "small" WW demanding a LW to fight at WW.

At the end of the day Pac is fighting a LW at WW, the same thing Mayweather did which was a b*tch move (because they ARE WW's). The ONLY differences between the two (going into the fight) is that we didn't know what JMM could do 2 years ago at WW. We do now for the Pac fight and that is why the weight was requested at 144.

Pac has the known advantages and again this is what Floyd is bashed for. JMM got the best of Pac twice and now they want the advantage and get the same product in the ring that Mayweather got. A LW trying to fight at WW.

Hatton and Floyd were not the same size.
                      Hatton: 145 lbs, 5'6", 65" reach
                      Floyd: 147 lbs, 5'8", 72 " reach
