Actually the audience applauds is what made everyone think Marquez came closer than he was. Pac won on paper, in the ring and based on the amount of damage taken. Marquez's face got patted down. Pac played it safer than almost ever before but he ensured the victory. Everyone is just disappointed that he didn't steamroll Marquez as expected.

you can say the same thing about when manny throws punches,the crowd gets hype yet the majority of punches don't seem to land.the reason alot of people thought marquez won the 2nd fight was because manny didn't steamroll marquez as expected too ? if the only reason everyone thinks marquez won is because he did better than expected than why does manny and his team want to fight him again?manny said he clearly won the fight so why fight again?

It happens because it is one of the oldest dirty tricks in the books. It's intentionally done to break the rhythm of the opposing fighter.
If it happens once or twice in a fight, that can be considered unintentional, but if it happens consistently, it becomes highly su****ious.

Watch rd. 12 again and you will see that it happened not once, not twice, but three times. And in all three instances, Marquez launched his attacks simultaneously.
