Comments Thread For: Angulo Fires Back at Shaw: He Did a Bad Job With Me!

Recently Gary Shaw gave an interview where he had some harsh things to say about his former fighter Alfredo “Perro” Angulo who just lost in his last fight on HBO against James Kirkland. Shaw went on to call Angulo a liar and a “bad dog” as he explained a fall out in negations for a possible Martinez fight while Angulo was still under his promotional banner.
Angulo was on the most recent edition of BoxingScene’s official radio show The Boxing Lab and responded to Shaw’s comments.

Bad job? Shaw got Angulo headlining HBO dates. Angulo was the one who lost to Kermit Cintron in an HBO BAD main event, which put him back on the undercards and further from a title short. That had nothing to do with Shaw. Angulo was also a total baby at the Angulo-Julio press conference because he was having to fight on the undercard. Boo-****in-hoo.

And seriously? 3-quarters of a million dollars to fight Martinez and the chance to become undisputed middleweight champion, while still keeping your ranking at 154 if you lose? That's doing a 'bad job?'

I didn't think Shaw did a bad job with him at all if he would have beaten Cintron he would have gotten a title shot and in line for future paydays but Angulo was way too overated from the begining. Angulo can't cut the ring to save his life and yes he has power but power is not everything. I mean Randal Bailey has power but he is just a journeyman and that is what Angulo is but he is Mexican so he gets the hype.

Gary did his job, Angullo didn't, as was evidenced in his poor condition. He was out of it less than 1/2 way into round 2...from what I saw he wouldn't beat Alvarez..

Gary did do a bad job in a sense. He could have gotten Angulo some fights in Mexico, Canada, Europe, etc..., but didn't. It's not like he couldn't fight. He just couldn't fight in the US.

Gary Shaw seems like a pretty good promoter for fight fans, I've seen he lets his fighters fight the very best. He doesn't hold his fights back like Frank Warren does. Shaw is probably losing some money the way he lets his fighters fight who they want to fight.

I always wondered why Angulo wasn't fighting during his visa troubles. I agree with your post good sir.

give it up Angulo -- you lost to a better, stronger, more determined guy -- accept it and move on....
