i dont usually get involved in floyd threads but hes doing a great thing,he didnt announce it to the world but to his fans who follow him on twitter,nothing wrong with that, its the year 2011 and everything is moving forward with technology,if stars want to say something to their fans then so be it.

if floyd called a press conference and then announced it that he was paying for joe's funeral then that would be a attention whore move,not a simply tweet,let it go man,there's no need for it,if you dont like the man at least respect what he has done,i still havent see any other boxer or promoter come forward and say they will split the costs with floyd.

Floyd and all celebrities know their twitter pages are followed by fans and the press. In fact I didn't hear about it on Twitter, I heard about it in an article written here. Paying the the funeral services is fine, but it should be a private matter between him and the family. Announcing the "the money team" will pay the expenses is self serving in my opinion. If a good deed is meant to come out it will. If it doesn't you shouldn't need the recognition for it if it's a genuine gesture.

I don't think in his mind he meant any harm by it. The way he said it with the "money team"(which BTW it's so ****** to say money team) it came off wrong. But, IMO he meant it as good gesture.

In my opinion everything Floyd does is calculated manipulation. That's just my opinion though.

Maybe the family is proud and doesn't want the whole world to know that they can't afford to pay for a good funeral themselves and that "Team Money" will take care of it. Did they even agree to this? Did he ask them before announcing it? Maybe they don't even want his money?

Exactly. This should have been a private affair between the family and himself. By tweeting it (and knowing good and well it would be seen and talked about) he taints the gesture.
