EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES
The American HW champs from the past weren't even real world champs, they were all frauds because they never competed against the superior Soviets/Eastern Europeans in the pros.
All of the best American heavyweights have been destroyed by the Klitschkos and other Eastern Europeans.
The same thing is happening in many other weight classes too.
Soviets/Eastern Europeans weren't allowed to turn pro until the 1990s because of the cold war/iron curtain.
Now Soviets/Eastern Europeans are allowed to turn pro and we're already taking over boxing and are dominating the higher weight classes.
We're also dominating the amatuers. Most of those great amatuers will become great pros.
This is just the beginning of the Eastern European domination.
NFL/NBA is just another WEAK EXCUSE.
There are tons of potential Eastern European HW Boxers who are doing Combat Sambo, MMA, Kickboxing, Hockey, Olympic Wrestling, Olympic Weightlifting, Powerlifting, Worlds Strongest Man Competitions, etc.
America isn't the only country on the planet that has other sports you excuse-making crybaby.
Eastern European fighters are superior.
Either Klitschko beats any HW from any era.Last edited by Soviet; 11-07-2011, 03:13 PM.Comment

American kids are so spoiled they don't have what it takes to put in the blood sweat and tears in the boxing gym from a young age. Besides even if they did, they have to fight GIANT hungry eastern europeans that have titanium jaws and huge knock out power. The klits are just the beginning, in the amateurs there are eastern europeans that are going to turn into monsters when they are fully grown.Comment

lmao Sad thing is that this ****** really thinks that kids joining sports and playing sports in school is some kind of unique American concept. Same way he thinks that America is the only country that has other sports that 'steal' boxing talent. It speaks to the education system in the US i suppose.Comment

The main difference is the money and the level of nationalism that is tied up in American sports. The latter is why some American's get tetchy over not dominating, it stings the national pride.
Other sports are better invested in and attract the athletic talent? Of course. But what does that mean in a country with the population of 311 million?
Lets throw this idea into this ring. They don't have to compete, they can all be a factor.
Boxing in the US is bound up with the history of the movement of peoples and their literal fight to belong in a new land. From Irish ,***ish, Black through to Latino. Each group fighting to be considered legitimate Americans has laced up the gloves and predominated in turn.
As each is accepted to a greater or lesser degree so more of each demograph gain access to education at college and university level. There, if they are athletically minded, they gain access to sports that are instutionalised within the college system, like football and basketball. Boxing is largely the sport of the ******. The more options available the less chance you are to see that group taking up boxing. First the Irish, then the ***ish, and now Blacks. African Americans have fought long and hard to get where they are now, and I'll be damned if they don't deserve to make money in sport without being punched in the face.
At the momont it's the Latinos, and it is their time. . . . . . . They're not known for their height though.Comment
