True but that's not the ref's perogative . His job is to protect the fighter . Better to stop a fight a couple seconds too early rather than too late . There was no doubt in my mind that Smith wouldn't have been up for long . It wasn't a poor stoppage like some of the others we've seen tonight.

It would have been ridiculous for the Ref to let Smith continue.

Similar to the ref letting Maccarinelli continue against Frenkel.

Thank God the second shot was only a glancing blow because the wind would have knocked him over at that point.
