The size of the purse was enough to even make James Toney lose weight for it, however he did it.

Haha, maybe. Toney's banking serious coin, which is the only reason he's over there. They wanted a faded big name American to beat for their own purposes of saying Russian boxing is now superior to American boxing, as the article states. And they knew Toney would stir things up (though he has been careful not to insult Russia or the Russian people while over there) and get some attention for the fight.
