Unless Lebedev hits harder than Sam freaking Peter you can chill with the KO talk. Toney wasnt stopped as a HEAVY. So spare me the brutal beating he is going to take at the hands of Ivan Drago Jr.

Toney has forgotten more boxing than Lebedev has learned. So unless he is in WORSE shape than when he fought at heavy....he will hand this Dennis a beating.

That being said, Toney could have cut weight so fast that there is literally nothing in the tank. We will just have to see.

But outside of that.....Dennis is catching a beat down.

I don't care what you or the other plank that created accounts just to hate on Toney have to say. Toney K.O's Sloth & you both leave the site with your heads down as far as I'm concerned

Thats something this guys dont seem to understand.

They think after 8 years at the age of 43 James Toney is suddenly motivated and wants to fight for his legacy .

          toney vs lebedev

Toney made weight, is ready to go, and is going to be too slick for lebedev. I think it will be a 12 round UD for toney.

Allot of fat people would be able to lose 57lbs for a couple of million dollars. Doesnt mean james toney is suddenly motivated and wants to fight for his legacy

Exactly. He didn't give a **** all these years and now he suddenly does?

              Horsecrap.

Here is the reason for this fight: the IRS is on Toney's ass, he is strapped for cash and was ready to do another silly MMA farce with Ken Shamrock (his fans have forgotten that little tidbit), and then the Russians with piles of cash in their pockets said, "Come over here and let Lebedev beat you up and we'll pay you handsomely for it." The size of the purse was enough to even make James Toney lose weight for it, however he did it.

I think the odds on this one were way off, and too good to pass up.

I put $100 on Toney to win at +600 and $40 on him to win by stoppage in 7-12 at +1750.

Lebedev has never beat anyone in Toney's class, and Toney has never been in any real trouble against guys much bigger and stronger than Lebedev.

I think Lebedev's style is tailor made for Toney at this point, unless Toney is completely used up from making weight.

Thank you. The only thing conditioning wise that I think Toney has to worry about is how are his reflexes at this stage of his career. Also, will this weight loss have the same effect on him as it did say Chris Byrd when he fought at Lt Heavy. The deflated balloon effect.

Otherwise, I see James being too elusive for this guy.

Anyone who thinks Toney is going to win should pay attention to the Moscow Times article, specifically this part:

The “Rocky IV” equation is one that local promoters may be able repeat again in the future now that, according to the fight’s promoter, Vladimir Khryunov, purses for marquee fights in Russia are on the same level as those in America.

Thanks to Toney’s pre-fight antics, the Russian side is well on its way to increasing boxing’s visibility in Russia, one of the reasons put forth by Khryunov for choosing an American opponent. Another reason — to affirm the strength of Russia and the end of American dominance in boxing — will have to wait until Friday.

“This is an exam for all of us, for me,” said Khryunov, who is also Lebedev’s manager. “We will overtake and surpass” American boxing.

Lebedev's inactivity with throwing punches might make this competitive. He was even cautious for most of the fight against RJJ, and he lost the Huck fight (unfairly) for the same reason.
