Milton Mccrory was one of the first fighters that I can remember seeing on television. In the early 80' Kronk used to air fights in our area from Cobo Arena in downtown Detroit. There were names like Bill "Cave man" Lee and Dwight Davison fighting on the cards aswell as Milton Mccrory.

The first big fight that I remember watching of his was when he fought Colin Jones on Wide World of Sports. Milton capitalized on his jab and sharp right hand to put a nasty gash across the bridge of the welch mens nose, enough of a gash to stop the fight. Jones would weep in his corner as he knew that this was his last shot at a title.

MCcrory would go to win the welterweight title and make a few defenses before deciding to exchange blows with the, arguably, pound for pounder Donald Curry. Milton was starched in 2 rounds by Curry and was then percieved as damaged goods by the general public, although he was still a quite good.

Milton heads the amatuer program down at Kronk now and in the Kronk fashion is doing a great job with the young boxers. He is always a very accomadating and generous man with his time if you would like to speak with him. And just a thought here, in the Detroit area or atleast to me, Milton was always ahead of Stevie in talent.
