It dont think it was an illegal punch. But its not very classy to pretend you want to touch gloves and instead throw a pucnh

In Boxing, you only show class after the bout is over. As long as the fight is still going, then there's no need to try to kiss your opponent's ass by touching gloves constantly, hugging, kissing, ect. When the ref say box, it doesn't matter if your opponent is trying to fix his trunk, you have every right to hit him.
