Lewis beat Vitali. Accept it. Let it go. He opened up the guy's face with cuts caused by punches. It is a legitimate victory, won by Lewis' aggression and power and Vitali's face not being able to take the punishment.

Yes, Vitali has won every round since his comeback (and 4 years out the sport might explain why he's fighting at 40, no?) but that makes Lewis' performance even more notable given it was a pretty even contest.

By the way, I'd encourage everybody to watch the Lewis-Vitali fight on mute. The commentary by Foreman in particular is so biased that it influences most viewers. On mute, it looks like Lewis is doing all the damage, and can walk through Vitali's best shots. That's the truth. Lewis was a warrior, won, and Vitali is a great fighter who competed well with one of the best heavyweights of all time, before going on to be one of the best heavyweights of all time himself. They are both greats. No need for all this *****ing one way or the other.

You can say what you like about the 10 days notice but it is common knowledge that Vitali was training for a year, chasing a fight with Lewis, and that Lewis was out of condition for the fight. And he still won.

Lewis was a great champion. Vitali is a great champion. Their fight was the last great heavyweight boxing match. Let's hope for more fighters of their ilk to arrive on the heavyweight scene sooner rather than later.

Sad news indeed, if it wasn't for politics, Vitaly could continue for another 5 years, but the man has priorities and Ukraine's future is a tad more important than boxing for him at the moment. I think that Vitaly could come back for one fight when he is 45 as Champion Emiritus, straight for the title against the WBC champ at that moment (I think Wlad will be gone by then), and beat Foreman's record.

On the plus side, Wlad will now have ALL the belts.

This changes with Vitali all the time because he is asked the question almost every day .... why are people so obsessed with when he is going to retire? He must be tired of answering the question.

He'll fight as long as their is someone he wants to fight out there ... just a couple of weeks ago he said "two or three more fights," here he says "one or two." He's not going to give any definitive answers. Why should he?

Translation: Vitali is a gutless Turd and would rather crawl out of the sport than face the REAL Champion David Haye. Good riddance Vitali you overhyped cherry picking quitter bum.

CharlieG - you are correct. the poster who said the black doctor stopped the fight is sad(this is 2011 dude- no need to comment) But Lewis was training for a smaller heavier fighter in Kirk Johnson, thats why he came in heavy, Vitali paid Johnson step aside $ and granted him his first defense if he beat lewis. All documented! Lewis was the one with a 10 day notice and a fat paycheck by HBO to do the fight! Lewis would have gotten to Vitali as he was doing before the (black doctor stopped it) lewis was in a 8 week camp preparing for someone slower and smaller, then comes a more fit taller better fighter on 10 days notice. I am a vitali fan, but something caused those cuts, Lewis is a top 10 all time heavyweight unified champion who fought everyone from his era except for Rid**** Bowe / George Foreman / Ike Ibeabuchi - Rid**** was scared, Ike went to jail, Foreman steered clear because of his advanced age - Lewis has one of the best ring IQ's there is - there was a segment where he and chris eubank where giving instructions to fighters on a hands on basis, and lenox had to correct chris eubank on the advise he was giving hi pupil (imagine that a hall of famer correcting a former world champ)

                  Too bad.

                  Vitali is a Real Man™.

Unlike that fraud Haye, Vitali will be missed.

It will be sad to see Vitali retire, definitely an ATG heavyweight who is dangerously competitive in any era. He might as well stay active and defend his belt until he's 45 or even older.

It fits though. After the Haye fight, the K's said they have one secret dream they don't want to reveal yet. I bet this dream is one undisputed HW champion.

                      Vitali Klitschko vs Lennox Lewis

                      THE TRUTH

Vitali took the fight on just 10 days notice.

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis barely survived the 2nd round, he was badly hurt, holding on for dear life, wobbling everywhere and staggering around the ring like a drunk. Lewis was badly hurt several times in the fight and was getting outboxed, outworked, outmuscled and outlanded by Vitali.

                      punches landed

                      Vitali 156

                      Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted, worn down and hurt from the accumulation of punches and was ready to get KTFO again, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was clearly the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

After the fight, Vitali intimidated the shit out of Lewis and made him look like a bitch.

All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and booed Lewis after the fight.

                      Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis again in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 40 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.

Vitali dominated Lewis and scared his bitch ass into retirement.

George Foreman: "Vitali was winning the fight. Lewis got lucky. There has to be a rematch!"

Jim Lampley: "A lucky escape for Lewis who was clearly losing the fight"

Even Emanuel Steward was upset and pissed off at Lewis for blatantly ducking a Vitali rematch.

Lewis is scared to death of Vitali.
shut up you ****** this thread has nothing to do with that fight get your head out of your arse and go out more often
