I would also like it if the May fans could just say Canelo/Morales and the Mexican fans pulled in their obvious fair amount. Why does he need the fight to be always around the Mexican holiday and fighting a Mexican....obviously this doesn't play a role in your mind because logic just shows the biggest upcoming star from Mexico doesn't have anything to do with the buy rate. This isn't an excuse it's just logic to explain some extra buy rates.

Why would Top Rank lie about a high number?

How about to use it at the negotiating table for future fights.

Negotiations for who? They negotiate the fighters' guaranteed purse and ppv cuts based on ppv numbers. For a promoter the bigger the numbers the more they have to shell out. So why would they lie with a bigger number and ending up having to negotiate a bigger purse to give to the fighter? Fighter and promoter are separate. The more to the fighter the less to the promoter and vice versa.
