There is a whole different rhythm to 15 rounders as opposed to 12. A fighter would be prepared going in, but they benefit the efficient marathon runner sort not the jack rabbit spastics that constantly twitch or waste a ton of punches.

Floyd-JLC 1 though JLC had the perfect pressure 15 round style and while Floyd is efficient also on that night JLC would have likely got him in 14 or 15 because it was taking everything Floyd had to keep the fight fairly even.
