How many mill did he get for fighting jab master winky wright? I no there was a dispute with percentages as to how much him and Oscar were to both recieve but ****in "A" it would have been by mother****ing far his biggest career payday.

Why did Tito turn away from this fight?

Sure we will hear the view that Oscar would have outclassed Tito and made him look bad...but what do the Tito fans believe?

Why turn down a mountain of money-why did 30 million dollars just not interest him?
the first fight was probly the most hyped up fight in prize-fighting history. two undefeated welterweights, both champions, same age, in their primes, both knockout artists, both p4p material, both with something to prove, and in a unification fight. that sounds like the perfect fight to me and to many MANY others.

but we were all wrong. the fight didnt live up to the hype or billing. yes, oscar gave tito a clinic for the first 9 rounds. yes, oscar gave away the last 3 rounds. yes, tito won the decision in one of the worst decisions in history.

after that fight, only one was a champion, neither had much to prove anymore, only one was undefeated, and the fight itself wasnt what the fans were looking for in two knockout artists.

skip ahead a few years. now one is a promoter, one has been humiliated and is retired, neither have ANYTHING to prove anymore, neither are champions, neither are undefeated, neither are in their primes, neither have looked impressive in their last outings, and the boxing world has all but forgotten them.

in today's circumstances and the memory of their last meeting, i dont think too many people are chomping at the bit to see Oscar De La Hoya vs Felix Trinidad II.

I agree but at this point in both of theirs careers it is all about the money and although the boxing world isnt cumming in their pants to see the remtach like they once were they (we) will all pay to see it if it did happen.

It should be about the money for these two...why it never got done is just puzzling to me...

Yeah but when one fighter asks for too much of the money then it doesn't get done.

I think they both are to blame for that...if there ever was a time for a "winner take biggest cut" fight this would have been it.

            Winner-60%
            Loser-40%

They could have really sold the fight this way and still could.

well, right after the fight, tito moved up to 154, and oscar stayed at 147 until 2001. and when oscar did move up in weight, tito already moved up to 160. so, after their fight, they werent in the same weight class again, or for very long.

thats one of the reasons why it wasnt made.

I understand where they were at in terms of weight divisions...I am basically speaking about Tito's comeback and how Oscar had dinner with him etc.

From that point on why did the fight never materialize. It just seemed to be an ego thing with both men.

It all goes back to the rematch clause of the original contract. Tito being the winner was to get the bigger purse and Delahoya didn't agree with that. The Trinidad's were not going to back down from Delahoya at the negotiation table. Delahoya being Delahoya felt he should get the bigger purse. Tito didn't need Delahoya to sell fights anymore so he didn't bend to Oscar's demands.

                    TheEvilSaint-

Tito was willing to go back down to 154 and fight the winner of the Delahoya/Vargas fight but neither one said they would fight him. Even coming out of retirement Tito was going to fight Delahoya but as usual Oscar's negotiation tactics stop the rematch from happening.

Sure Tito didnt need Oscar to sell fights but to make a once in a lifetime purse he absolutely needed Oscar...both men should have realized this and found common ground.

Again Im not really wondering why both men didnt fight again right after their first fight...what puzzles me is that after Tito decided to come back neither guy could set aside certain things to make the fight happen.

If you listen to Papa Trinidad talk there was never ever a chance with this fight happening, why not make 30 mill...Im just dumb on this subject I guess.
