In the real world, then yes... but in boxing (business), then no.
Cash Cow status dictates the conditions, and Team Pac/TR have been very consistent with Manny staying at 147 after the Margarito fight, which was before Sergio even hit the radar (Williams KO2).

I'm amazed, so many idiots here! Their argument soley based on Pac fought Margarito for JMW title.. But they forgot that this was a fight between WW vs. JMW for JMW title! Pac never been weighed within JMW, I repeat, never been in JMW in tems of weight even when he fought Margarito! In fact, Pac is a small WW because he could not even reached the full limit of WW even during fight night, and of his admittance after the Margarito fight, he was hurt because of weight disparity, prompting him to sticked fighting within range of his weight division, at WW! Pac tried fighting big guy at JMW even his weight was way far below the minimum of JMW.. and this is an act of a real champ! In contrast, Martinez, a big MW champ challenging to fight the smaller guy into a weight that he could not attain is an act of unbecoming a real champ! Fight your own size, or challenge big guys at SMW and let us see if you could equal to the real champ accomplishment! Ooops, don't argue that Pac will fight JMM in WW, because it was JMM who challenged Pac at WW for money, not the other way around.

uhh no...the arguments are based in the fact that pac fought a career welterweight who wasnt even ranked or anywhere near the top 10 jmw for a paper title neither guy deserved to be fighting for, but pac went for it because he knew very well margs was a washed up slow surefire win, win even though it wasnt an easy win.would pac have fought margs if he were a legit top 10 jmw in the prime of his career on a long winning streak???and not coming off a brutal ko loss and long layoff? So you just admitted that Pac is NOT a true 154 fighter, since he didn't fight a true 154 pounder either, and to top it off, it was at 150 and NOT 154.

Keep in mind that Pac was 144 in the weigh in for that fight... are you truly going to sit there and pretend there isn't a HUGE size disparity here?

pac will never take the big risks martinez would surley stop him he just hits too hard for pacyow who eats punches like skittles.its an insult and a joke pac is exactley like mayweather is I dont rank either guy above the other they are both the same, -cheap, and not very courageous when it comes to stepping up to a serious challenge.and thats fine I just dont like pac being ranked soo high for fighting washed up old farts or 2nd rate guys same for mayweather,both dudes are way overhyped and undeserving of it.even the jmm fight is a total waste of time and money its better for boxing to skip that fight and send a message that were not paying for garbage .

thanks for the article but i said Martinez hasn't said anything about welterweight, not his team. Martinez has repeatedly said he can't go below 150 so again, this 147 talk is crazy. I mean, seriously man, how the hell can he be a natural welterweight if he hasn't weighed 147 in 10 years. Martinez's trainer is ******ed for making that statement because I don't think its even possible for Martinez to safely cut that much weight, especially since its been 10 years and he's 36. Most of that weight would be muscle mass. Hey man, Martinez is an idiot for even thinking about fighting Pac but Pac is an idiot also if he thinks Martinez can get down to 147.

Hey man, Pac statement is clear and you could understand that if you have that simple common sense! Pac means, he can fight anybody as long as within 147! So if Martinez and JMM or anybody have an ambition to fight him, then it would be that Martinez, JMM or that anybody's problem on how to reached him, because Pac cares only those who wants to fight him at WW! Well first of all the Margirito fight was at a catch weight of 150lbs ,not 154.2ndly right after the fight Pacquiao announced he would be moving back to welter weight and staying there because he could not carry 150lbs(in fact on fight night he only weigghed in at 148lbs)so there is no way Pac can fight Marvella who comes at 165lbs on fight.
