  • Comments Thread For: Golden Boy, Roach Push For DeMarco-Linares Rematch

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has asked the WBC for a rematch between Saturday's semi-main event fighters - Jorge Linares and Antonio DeMarco. Way ahead on the scorecards, Linares was stopped at 2:32 of the 11th round of the lightweight title fight.

I watched the fight...Freddie Roach said he was concerned with the direction the fight was going when they interviewed him in like the 7th round...There should be a rematch, but it doesnt need to be immediate. There wasnt a controversy. Linares got his ass beat, plain and simple. So what if he was shoe-shining demarco and looing fancy here and there, the fact of the matter is demarco landed harder punches. Thats what counts in Pro-boxing. It isnt the amateurs where landing a bunch of slaps wins you a fight.

de marco took linares' heart from him landing heavier punches . Linares was glad the fight was stopped . Please keep Richard Schaefer's "expert" opinion on sports of boxing from this site : he is a good banker , but is nobody in the sports of boxing . Ask likes of Lennox Lewis and put here what they think it'll be interesting for us . Schaefer has to go to "business journal" , not to the boxing site .

Really getting sick of Richard Schaeffer and GBP in general. So what if Linares fought well throughout the fight...He got stopped by a more determined opponent, without any controversy. Get back in line and re-position yourself as the #1 contender and you'll get another shot. Better yet, pay the fighters now ranked in front of you some "step-aside"with some of that DeLaHoya money.
It sickens me to see Schaeffer and GBP start manipulating the system because they own all of the HBO dates and The Ring magazine rankings. These guys can't take a loss as evidenced by all of their statements coming out regarding last Saturday's card in LA.
By next week, Hopkins will still be champ, and Linares be fighting DeMarco in a tough re-match, when Antonio should be able to make some quick money with a less dangerous voulantary defense that he just earned as lineal champ.
I'm sure Suliaman will bow to Goldie to get that green belt on TV in front of the most people possible.

I'm getting tired of GBP. Every Friday night on Telefutura they have an undefeated GBP fighter always facing some 12-7 fighter to keep their little gravy train of constant setups going. No reason to watch the show when you know what is going to happen. And then you have ShoBox where it is prospects vs prospects where anything can happen. What an opposite.

it has become obvious that champions owing to the promoters like top rank and golden boy are not the best boxers any more . Any time i can bring up 20 boxers who will beat canelo or chavez jr. boxing nowadays is not even business , it's fraud like stock market .

not really. when de marco landed a big punch linares fired back. linares mistake was he didn't try to play it safe during the 11th. But i would love to see a rematch happen.
