If Floyd fights Martinez, how can any "boxing fan" hate on that fight?

The problem here is that no matter the outcome, there will be excuses due to the weight disparity. If the fight takes place at 154 and Martinez comes into the ring around 170 and happens to KO or beat Floyd, it will be blamed on the weight advantage Martinez had. If its fought at a catchweight and Martinez were to come down to (let lets say 150), a Martinez loss would be blamed on him being drained for the weigh-in.
For a Floyd Pacquiao showdown, there will be no issues like this. Both are true WW's and will have no problem as far as making weight. This is a fight where the best fighter that night will win with neither fighter having some sort of advantage on the other as far as weight is concerned.
At the end of the day, both fighters will continue to get criticized for thier comp until they face eachother!Last edited by Deevel916; 10-19-2011, 11:36 PM.Comment

Hahaha man you're such a dumb f**k. I have seriously never seen a poster as ignorant or moronic on this site than you. Your boy Manny asked for a fight with Sergio at 150, and Sergio agreed. Now, Manny backs out of that, because he's not even considering a fight with Sergio.
If Manny fought Sergio, you would praise him ALL DAY LONG, you know it, I know it, everyone on here knows it!!!
Until team Pac gets their s**t together on testing and what not, Mayweather is one-upping your boy continuely.
Floyd picks Mosley after Shane just KO'd Margarito, while Pac picks Clottey (hadn't won a fight in two years) and Margarito (just KO'd by Mosley). Floyd picks Ortiz, coming off wins and in his prime, while Manny picks Marquez (2-3 years removed from being really good and at 144 where Floyd already dominated him). Floyd picks Martinez, #3 in the world, better than ever, and seen as maybe even a greater risk than Manny. It's funny, TRULY FUNNY.Comment

His last fight with Barker, he weighed in at 159, and came into the fight at 164.Comment

Mayweather fighting at 160 is just flat out unrealistic, just like Manny fighting at 154 is said to be. Manny is a natural Super Featherweight/Lightweight. Floyd is a natural Junior Welterweight in his size.Comment

He is 36 years old. Historically, older mid-30's guys have more trouble with cutting weight, and as a result have more side-effect then if a guy in his 20's did it.
Why does it matter how long he has been fighting at 160? Point is, he has been fighting at 154 for a long time and maybe it was just the right time to move up, because it wasn't as easy or comfortable to make that weight anymore, even though he still could.Comment

Agreed. For his MW fights, Sergio is only weighing in at about 158-159. If it's at 154, Floyd gets huge credit, because Floyd has never even come into a fight on fight night above 150. If its at 150, Floyd won't get as much credit me, but he'd still get decent credit. Sergio IS a small MW, there's not denying that. If it's at 154, ASergio will come into the fight around 160-164, while Mayweather would most likely come in around 150 or so.

I don't think Martinez's weight at fight night will be much different if the fight is at 154 or 160.Comment
